Pain after D&C? How much is normal?

Pain after D&C? How much is normal? Topic: Pain after D&C? How much is normal?

Question: It has been 4 days since I had a D&C done. The first couple of days the pain was bearable, kind of like period cramps. Well the last 2 nights I can hardly even sleep because of the pain. It starts in my lower abdomen and goes around into my lower back. How much pain is normal? They didn't give me any pain meds and Ibuprofen just don't cut it.

It is common to experience increased pain 3 or 4 days after post op. Your uterus is continuing to cramp down and return to pre pregnancy size. Call your MD and ask them to call in a pain rx to your pharmacy. A hating pad is a girls best friend when it comes to cramps. Also increase your intake of fruits fibers and fluids. Dehydration and constipation can also increase cramps.

I had a D&C about a year ago. I didn't feel much pain either the first few days, well mild painkillers and hot water bottles were sufficient. When I told my GP that the pain was getting worse he said it could be because the general anasthetic I had, hadn't completely worn off, hence why I didn't feel much discomfiture. If you're worried, go and see your GP as infections can happen!

I could obviously seek advice together with your dr. It would be the cervix thinning/dilating. I get this stabbing discomfort and i'm 15 weeks and three days. I get it each and every few days it comes and is going however is not steady. If your cervix is thinning its great to get it checked asap reason the drs can supply you whatever to give up exertions. But each and every being pregnant is unique however its great to be dependable than sorry

I suggest that you add fibre capsules while you take the pain meds. I've noticed that when I don't the low back pain worsens! Find a pain specialist, and see what he/she can offer. Despite years of different meds, I've gotten amazing results from Toradol, which is an anti-inflammatory. See if your doc will let you try it. It's non addictive, and works wonders...at least from time to time. The problem with chronic pain is that you may have to try different things at different times. And the best of luck to you.
