Restless Leg Syndrome?

Restless Leg Syndrome? Topic: Restless Leg Syndrome?

Question: I am a lady in my 60's and have RLS. I will NOT take prescription drugs for the condition. Has anyone found relief with over the counter dietary supplements? For example..Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, Glucosamine, chondroitin. Or some other type of vitamin? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to take prescription drugs as they seem to have way too many side effects.

I heard that coral calcium is excellent for this. Other remedies that should offer some help: Magnesium, which is best taken in a 1:2 ratio with calcium but if you take with calcium you wouldn't need the coral calcium. Magnesium helps any muscular: tension, aches or spasms in the legs and has a calming effect on the nervous system. Together with calcium should help promote a good nights sleep also. Horse chestnut extract, by improving the circulation in the legs might offer some improvement. Homeopathy for restless legs depends on the specific symptoms. see this list for details: http://www.numarkpharmacists.com/hn/Home... Soaking in a bath with epsom salts an hour or two before bed might also help. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

You can have IBS at any age. I have something similar to it, chrons disease, as well as my friend, and i know several other people my age who have IBS. The trick is you just have to eat and learn what makes your digestive system wreak havoc. There is hope, you have to go see a doctor about this, whether you have it or not. If you do, they will give you some meds which will help it and it should help you not use the bathroom so much and settle your system down. It is not curable, but it is very manageable good luck and be well

No, it's not a humorous query. Everyone has disorders like this at one factor of their lifestyles. It does now not sound like IBS to me however I do feel you must see a authentic. If you feel you're constipated you may also desire to visit the drugstore as they are going to be equipped to propose anything till you'll see a health care provider. A average, healthful grownup does not get constipated except their is an hindrance most often.

Smart lady not to take prescription drugs, and there are some things that you could do to help the RLS without taking anything. Try aiming a fan at your feet while you sleep, or soaking your legs in warm water just before bed. This should help relax the nerves that cause the irritating need to move. As for vitamins, my friend takes zinc, and has seen some improvement. Good luck!

be careful. there is a high risk for dementia for people with RLS. my dad has the dementia and its been proven that RLS is a pre-determining factor. I say take the meds, it could hault other underlying diagnoses. Best of luck.

Poor you - you have my every sympathy. I don't personally have IBS, but my 19 year old son has suffered from this since the age of 8. He pretty much has it constantly, but was virtually free for a short time this summer when I put him on a gluten free, dairy free diet. We also cut out coffee and cut down on his stress. He also started taking Mebeverine 3x daily and a soluble fibre supplement 3x daily. The only reason he stopped was because it became too expensive for him to manage himself on his relatively low wages. He has got a relapse ATM so has said he will start back on the regime as he is struggling to work again. It's very debilitating for him and I live abroad most of the year. It messed his final years at school up, and found some days impossible. Few people really understand how bad it can be and it was made worse for him when his dad was taken ill and nearly died from diverticulitis which ruptured his bowel. A long story, but a subsequent hospital infection (UK hospitals are soooo good) meant he lost his large bowel and has an ileostomy. My son is so worried this may happen to him, despite our reassurances. In summary, stress is the biggest enemy and caused him to become a prisoner at home - getting out is almost impossible when you can't trust your bowels, and diet can make the biggest difference, if you can afford specialist foods!
