Question: I cant fall asleep and I've been laying down listening to music and all and I can't fall asleep what are some ways that help you fall asleep ?

Common sleep aids include warm milk, Chamomile tea, 5-HTP, Melatonin and Valerian. If you are having trouble switching off at bedtime some light exercise at bedtime often helps you to relax, unwind and switch off and that often improves your sleep. Strenuous exercise at bedtime is likely to ruin your sleep.

I once had a sleep disorder.... here is what helped me... 1. No eating or exercise 1 hour before bed (or booze) . 2. follow the same routine no matter how long it is each night. (such as brush teeth, put the cat out, layout clothes for tomorrow, etc.....so it the same way each night. 3. keep room dark and quiet 4. make up a long story and repeat it in your head each night after getting into bed.... soon you will be asleep before you get past the first paragraph

Warm milk, soothing music, ocean wave or other sound machine. Anything lavender-scented. Sleep at opposite end of the bed. Watch a really boring movie. Read.

make the room really dark, turn off the music, smoke some pot and you will knock out. you can leave the last part out if you want. just stop listening to music, you may not think it but you are stimulating your mind and its keeping you awake

Some of the natural things we take are: Valerian (very very good to relax you and actually does promote sleep (smells funny but take it anyway!) Take this right before you go to bed. This strong herb actually promotes sleep and you will feel sleepy. You can also buy sleep combinations with Valerian, Hops, Cami meal. My other half swears by drinking a cup of Camel tea right before bed. He also takes Melatonin. (I get better results from the Valerian personally) Leaving the herbs, my doctor said it is fine to take Excedrin PM (and this also helps). She told me it is not addictive and I have taken it for years myself. If you are NOT in pain, you can go to Costco and purchase 800 Dyenhydramine, which is actually Benadryl WITHOUT the acetaminophen and the cost is ridiculously low compared to anywhere else. (I don't like to take the Acetaminophen that is combined with the Dyphenhydramine because I am already taking this in pain medication. My doctor assured me years ago that this is not addictive. Leaving the OTC meds, if you do seek RX help (such as Ambien) I would try NOT to take the whole thing (I brake my in quarters!) Do be very very careful and very frugal with RX sleep medications. It is better not to get too dependent on them and definitely DO NOT take them late in the night before bed ---take them early if you must. .
