Question: Hey, My friend told me that I should take Whey Protein everyday even if I dont work out, I work out as much as I can but take the Whey Protein only after I work out. He says even if i dont work out it will go to the muscles that dont have much muscle on them. I have small biceps.... he said it might go there. Is this true?

It will not just go to the smallest muscle like your friend says. That's an unfounded claim and it sounds like he's just talking to talk. Taking a shake every day will not be a bad thing. A shake with 20 to 30g of protein is a great way to get a healthy snack and help repair some muscles on days off from the gym. Protein does not just go to small muscles--it goes to those that are in need of repair from your workout. If your biceps are small and you work them out AND take your protein, then you'll build size. One without the other doesn't provide as great of results.

It won't store as fat. That's very unlikely. As far as it going to the places that you don't have much muscle on, HAHAHAHA!!!!!! That's not the way that it works. The protein doesn't just magically go to the places that you would like to be larger. Thinking that there's something magically about supplements is a problem that a lot of people run into. The fact is that your tiny biceps aren't going to get larger unless you exercise and, more importantly, eat enough to force yourself to gain weight. You can take the most expensive protein powder in the world but if you're not already eating enough and exercising, it won't mean a thing. Protein supplements can be effective because they offer a convenient way for people engaging in intense exercise to start to give their muscles what they need to repair from the workout. In all honesty, if you ate a skinless, baked chicken breast (high on protein/low on fat) in place of the protein shake, there wouldn't be THAT much of a difference (other than the money that you would save). If you simply ate an extra chicken breast on non-workout days, it would be the same as drinking a shake. It's not going to magically suck into your small biceps. It's going to give your body extra protein for important functions. Repairing damage to your muscles so that they can grow is just one of them. You probably get a second opinion anytime that your friend suggests something about training/supplementation. It doesn't sound like he/she has a clue.

Protein is good for the the body. But people dont realise that u cannot replace a meal with just protein shake. What abot fiber that keeps digestion healthy and carbs that keep u fuller otherwise u would feel hungry in no time and eat some junk outside. I would suggest u only replace 1 meal with a protein meal replacement and not just whey protein . Good meal replacement companies are optimum nutrition and EAS and the good thing is they provide almost the same amount of protein. Also another suggestion 1 scope of whey protein or meal replacement protein is nothing u atleast need 2 .U wont increase weight or if u will it will be muscle mass.
