Question: Hey i am 6'0'', 230 pounds and Im a pretty solid build. But I want to gain defintion in my body. I am kinda afraid to gain weight, but I know thats probably the route to go in getting a more muscular mass. IDK what to do, can someone assist me with tips, and what would be the best route for me due to my size? Thanks!

hey k, Wow, you are a big dude. keep pushing the weights but change up your reps, try light weights at more reps to work on tone and carving out your muscles. You will need to keep pushing your cardio as well, so your metabolism will stay working hard. I always like to take a protein shake after my workouts to fuel my muscles and body. But remember to take your shake within 30 min of your workout for best results. You can also use a smoothie or shake as a meal replacement throughout the day so your body has good fuel. I get my stuff from the link below, they also have a forum page with some good workout discussions and great recipes. The choc flavor is the best. Good luck.

if you eat 4-5000 calories a day and bust your *** for an hour every day in the gym, its almost impossible not to gain muscle mass just consider everything you eat as part of your goal, maybe do a bit of research as far as what you should eat

Dude I've actually done what ur saying a couple of times on deployments. You can actually stay the same weight but get more cut up. The key is to not lower your calories like crazy but replace about 60 to 80% of your carbs with protein. Then on the workout side the whole myth of low weight, high reps isn't really that truthful. Hit the gym and go heavy, it boosts your testosterone and in turn makes you burn fat and gain muscle at the same time. With pleny of protein and low carbs your body will use the fat as energy and still have the protein available to build muscle. And do High Intensity Interval Training cardio, it is the best cardio you can do

Pick an exercise, any exercise. Highest weight possible, as many reps as possible as many sets as possible. Multiply the weight*reps and add the sets together. Wait a couple of days then do it again. Increase the number you multiplied as much as you can.

Your doctor is right. Are you really going to believe strangers in YA over your doctor? You also have your macronutrients messed up. They should be 55/20/25 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein respectively) about. You have waaay too much protein. Your body does not store protein. So, a protein supplement can only benefit you if your diet is deficient in protein. And, if it is deficient, fix the diet. Eat food. Protein is the most misunderstood nutrient in bodybuilding. And none of those people worry about protein or take supplements for their jobs. They just eat a good diet and their bodies adapt with no problem. A bodybuilder can only work out 10 hours a week at the most because of the recovery time required by the muscles. Marathon runners, boxers, Olympic athletes, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, etc. all train much harder and they do it without supplements. Most protein supplements are scams.
