What is the best type of diet?
Topic: What is the best type of diet?
June 19, 2019 / By Aldrich Question:
I am wanting to lose weight ~ about 15-20 lbs. I now that it is possible and I am incredibly willing and eager to do anything to achieve my goal.
I have started walking (my dog wants the walk too!) and working out alittle bit.
The problem is the type of diet I should adhere to. Low calories? Low sugar? Low carbs? My boyfriend is a believer of the Atkins diet, but I am skeptical about it. If I just watch my calories and keep it low, doesn't that help lose weight?
wow thanks for all the advice so far!

Do NOT do Atkins. In the long run it is extremely bad for your health.
I swear by a 'detox' diet plan. I do it once a month for a week not to lose weight, just to cleanse my body. It makes me feel a lot healthier. However, it is also a diet that many people do to lose weight. Although, generally dieting should be accompanied by a lot of exercise, especially cardio.
Detox is basically a diet which excludes red meats, dairy products and wheat. (Although you can eat natural yoghurt). It's low GI, low fat. You get your carbs from potatoes, (which you can eat as many as you want of), oats and brown rice. Proteins come from pulses and fish. You can eat as much fruit as you want to (which leaves you feeling GREAT) and as much veg' as you want to.
It's a great diet to do every once in a while or for the long run. It's very high in energy, especially if you eat oats for breakfast (I never used to, but it's probably what I have most mornings nowadays). It leaves you feeling much healthier and more lively because it cuts out all the fatty foods we usually come across on a day to day basis as well as wheat, white breads (high in carbs/sugar.)
Accompany whichever diet you do with 20-30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week. If you're new to cardio, here's a beginner's jogging plan:
It works a treat. I've always been very active, but had never done cardio before. Do yourself a favour and invest in an Nike+ iPod nano. You'll never look back.
Good luck :)

There may be a genetic predisposition for type I diabetes, however type II is the one that experts say is really genetically inherited. The reason type I looks more genetic is because it is caused by a viral autoimmune disease, which can possibly run in families. Trust me, I was shocked when I learned this but it is true.
The main difference between the two is not that one is genetically inherited and the other is not, because type II can be genetically inherited. It is that type I cannot produce any insulin due to the virus affecting the pancreas (which makes insulin). Type II can make insulin however their bodies are not able to utilize it correctly.
You are correct about your brother not having any control over it though. It was not his lifestyle that caused his diabetes. Your anatomy teacher does not seem to understand the difference between the two or he didn't know you were speaking of type I diabetes.

I do the restricted calorie diet. I don't eat less than 1200 but I try not to eat more than 1500 calories in a day. And I try walking everyday that I can. But you have to eat healthy to because you need every calorie you eat to count. You wouldn't want to eat a 500 calorie doughnut and a thing of chocolate milk that would have about 200 calories and then try to stretch out 700 calories throughout the rest of the day. Plus those foods are bad for you in any amount. Try eating more filling and fat burning foods like whole grains such as oats, and eat more veggies, fruits, green leafy veggies, lean meats, low fat milk, handfull of seeds, and green tea. The milk is important because calcium helps you burn fat. And drinking lots of water is very important in a diet because it helps flush your system and keeps you hydrated which helps with wait loss. Plan your meals to be about 3 to 400 calories a piece with a healthy snack in between. Make a daily journal of your food and your calorie burned. And weigh only once a week. Same time, same day, and with the same clothes on or in your birthday suit. Log that on a calendar and watch your progress. You should lose about eight to ten pounds a month. So, don't get discourage if you only lost two pounds in a week because that is good and expected. Keep you goals small. This diet will make you very healthy and if you keep the good eating habits and walking you will keep this weight off for the rest of your life and even live longer. Ive been on the diet a few weeks and have lost five pounds. But I have lost forty pounds on this diet before and kept it off a long time until I quit eating good and started eating like my boyfriend. AHHHH. Anyways, go to www.my-calorie-counter.com It is a great free website that you can log a daily journal and track your progress. Good luck.
