Topic: which restaurant?
May 20, 2019 / By Zelma Question:
My boyfriend and I are going to san fansisco this weekend and we are looking for a few good restaurants to eat at any sugestions? One of the restaurants we would like to go to is one that has a romantic setting and is a high class restauant. Then we would like to find one that just has some kick butt clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. And perhaps an awsome sushi restaraunt.
and for you guys who have never been to san fran, just dont answer because you look like a jerk when do.

The best restaurants require reservations that are next to impossible to get. To name a few: Masa's, Gary Danko, Fleur de Lys or The Dining Room at the Ritz Carleton Hotel.
Nice restaurants (but not necessarily romantic) that you can sometimes get same day reservations might be: Alfred's Steakhouse, Boulevard, Farallon and Aqua.
Since you're here for the weekend, try Sunday Brunch at Cityscape on the 46th floor of the San Francisco Hilton. 14-foot plate glass windows offer you a birds-eye view of San Francisco and the food is delectable albeit somewhat pricey. You can dress up but corporate casual is also fine.
Ask for a corner table when making reservations and this can be your romantic getaway with a view, smooth jazz, mimosas and chocolate dipped monster strawberries.
Here's the website: http://www.cityscaperestaurant.com/brunc...
Kick butt clam chowder? That can be difficult. Try Swan Oyster Depot on Polk Street. 19 bar stools, no tables, no reservations and a line out the door. Do a web search and read the reviews. This place is an institution!
Sushi is available all over San Francisco. I like Ebisu out on 9th Avenue near Irving. Be sure to sit at the bar and buy the chef a beer or cup of sake early in your meal. I skip the sushi and dig right into the sashimi. No sense wasting valuable stomach space with rice!

It has been years since I Left the BAY AREA, I lived there for 20 years, but a really good seafood place to eat is Scomas(sp) on Fishermen Wharf. If you want to travel across the bay to the north side, an excellent and romantic restaurant is the Seven Seas. Check the ferries, I no longer remember how late they run. You can find directories to these and other great eateries in and around the city. If you do not plan on renting a car, don't plan on doing much outside the city. With the exception of BART, there is no public transportation to speak of. Also keep in mind that even in the summer, San Francisco does get cold after sunset. The fog and the ocean breeze. Aways take a sweater or light jacket if planning on being out for the evening.
Have fun and enjoy my FAVORITE CITY.
