no defiantly not, in fact it might even help lose weight. in order to increase weight a person must consume more calories then what they require(burn) in a day. these extra calories are then stored by the body as fat. with regards to whey protein, this has the lowest calorie count per serving then any other protein shake out there. the reason for this is because whey protein has about 1,6 - 3.5 grams of carbs per serving which is really low compared to other protein shakes out there. so if you want to gain weight(fat) then i would look at a protein shake with about 70 - 100 grams of carbs per serving.this will defiantly help you increase you weight
