Several ideas that can help you: Anything with lots of beans tends to be very cheap and filling for the price. A can of kidney beans runs about 50-60 cents and probably lasts about 2 meals. As much as you can, don't go out. Even dollar menu food is expensive compared to what you can pull off at home. Look for "manager specials" on meat in the supermarket. This is meat they have a lot of and is getting on the older side -- still okay to eat but won't last. Take it home and cook it that night. Especially, look for sales on fruits and vegetables. This happens in large part because supply is on the rise, which means that the produce is in season. Buy large bags of potatoes and onions; you can use these to stretch most dishes to make more food for less money. Ramen noodles (and pasta in general) is a good buy. Not very healthy by itself, but if you just add some red pepper flakes and a few drops of sesame oil (plus any leftover meat you might have) it becomes much tastier.

If I was you, I would go to trader joes, whole foods, or mothers market and get some food or energy bars. They are relatively cheap(50 cents to $2) and are a great substitute for a meal. You could also look at making your own lunch at home with store bought ingredients.

In medium bowl, combine baking powder, 1 1/3 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper. With pastry blender or 2 knives used scissors-fashion, cut in 3 tablespoons margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in 1/2 cup milk. With hand, knead mixture in bowl just until dough holds together. On ungreased cookie sheet, with lightly floured hands, pat dough into 6-inch square. With sharp knife, cut dough into 4 squares. Arrange squares 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake biscuits 13 to 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in 3-quart saucepan, melt remaining 1 tablespoon margarine on medium. Add chopped onion and cook 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Add carrots, celery, turkey broth, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper; heat to boiling on high. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until all vegetables are tender. In 1-cup liquid measuring cup, whisk remaining 2 tablespoons flour into remaining 1/2 cup milk. In thin, steady stream, pour milk mixture into hot turkey broth, whisking constantly. Heat to boiling; boil 1 minute. Stir in peas and turkey; heat through. Remove from heat; stir in dill. Spoon turkey mixture into 4 deep dinner plates; top with biscuits. Or serve shortcake-style: Split biscuits horizontally and spoon turkey between halves. OR Red Beans and Rice: MAKES 4 SERVINGS Ingredients 1 cup(s) long-grain white rice 2 slice(s) bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces 1 small onion, chopped 2 stalk(s) celery, sliced 1 green pepper, chopped 2 clove(s) garlic, finely chopped 2 teaspoon(s) Cajun seasoning 1/2 teaspoon(s) dried thyme 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt 2 1/2 cup(s) Home-Cooked Beans, plus 1 1/2 cups bean cooking water 1/4 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper sauce Directions Prepare rice as label directs. Meanwhile, in 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook bacon on medium until browned. With slotted spoon, transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. To bacon fat in skillet, add onion, celery, green pepper, garlic, Cajun seasoning, thyme, and salt. Cook 10 to 12 minutes or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in beans and reserved bean cooking water, bacon, and cayenne pepper sauce. Cook 3 to 5 minutes longer to blend flavors. Serve bean mixture over rice. OR Farfalle with Grilled Fall Veggies: MAKES 4 SERVINGS Ingredients 2 medium red peppers, each cut lengthwise into quarters, seeds and stems discarded 2 medium (8 ounces each) zucchini and/or summer squash, cut into 1/2-inch-thick long diagonal slices 1 medium onion, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices 2 tablespoon(s) olive oil 1/4 teaspoon(s) salt 1/4 teaspoon(s) coarsely ground black pepper 1 pound(s) farfalle pasta 2 large tomatoes, chopped 1/3 cup(s) freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese plus additional for serving Directions Heat large covered saucepot of salted water to boiling on high. Meanwhile, preheat outdoor grill for covered, direct grilling on medium. Place peppers, zucchini, and onion in large bowl; add olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss until vegetables are evenly coated. Place vegetables on hot grill grate; cover and cook 10 to 12 minutes or until vegetables are tender and lightly charred, turning over once. While vegetables are grilling, add pasta to boiling water and cook as label directs. As vegetables are done grilling, transfer to cutting board and coarsely chop. Reserve 1/4 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta. Return pasta and cooking water to saucepot; stir in tomatoes, grilled vegetables, and 1/3 cup Romano. Serve with additional Romano. All of these are healthy ideas, some of the spices maybe a lil expensive at first but you can get most of them from like a dollar store. and you can freeze each of the dishes in lil serving pouches for quick and easy reheat. They should stay good for at least 6 months in the freezer.
