Given Up On Weight Loss. Good Decision?

Given Up On Weight Loss. Good Decision? Topic: Given Up On Weight Loss. Good Decision?

Question: I'm about female, 100lbs overweight. 5'11-6'0 tall. I've tried numerous diets. I've also used mindful eating, healthy eating, commitment-to-lifestyle-change type of eating. Exercising regularly and sanely. Overexercising. I've bounced around 10-30lbs of weight loss and gain for about 4 years and before this spring/summer. At my peak I lost 50 pounds, weighing about 217 lbs against when I first started out (I weighed 267 pounds). I was doing so good and my food addictions had to creep in again. Now I weigh 280 pounds.Weight loss is getting harder. I've been dieting on and off for the past 4 weeks, losing about 5-7lbs, giving into my temptations and gaining it all back. Feeling like crap after it all. It's my fault and I know it. No excuses. I'm a fat pig that loves her food. I start my first job (now that I've graduated grad school) in 4 months. I will make my grand entrance about 30 pounds heavier than in my interview days. I hoped to lose as much weight as I could to look somewhat acceptable before the first day but I guess they will be seeing a porkier, fatter me. I feel older, less attractive. I couldn't give a s**t about myself. I'm almost in tears writing this but maybe I'll feel better about my decision tomorrow. Can't put off shopping for work clothes till I'm slim enough anymore - might as well stock up on size 20 pantsuits and white shirts while I'm at it. This is going to sound like a cliched whine but I've always wanted to be "normal." Normal, attractive acceptable girl fantasies have always ruled my mind as my current self is apparently not good enough. At age 23, I've never had a boyfriend or garnered the confidence to accept being boyfriend material at all. I can't wear nice clothes or feel light, able, or agile. I have to spend $40 per bra (yep, I'm big everywhere) and I'm a broke graduate student. I'd give anything to wear a size 10 but I guess we can't have it all. Having said this, what are the chances of ever having a love life, a rewarding career and appreciation (for my abilities AND looks) should I give up and remain the way I am? If the questions above are the stupidest things you've ever heard and it is obvious that I will have much less of a chance than average, how can I make the most of things? Please be realistic (no mushy condolences or heartwarming niceties. Just the blunt, honest truth or real examples from real life). Thanks.

You could give yourself a few years to retrain your body. I started keeping a chart of my food intake, measurements and weight at age 24. Now, I am quite a bit older and still work on the best dietary plan for my age. It really doesn't cost anything to exercise. It just takes walking shoes. So that would be a can do. As far as dieting, I don't believe in it either. I do believe in healthy eating. It provides a better quality of life. There is great information available free on what to eat. One book I think would work for you is entitled, Never Say Diet. The authors provide recipes for foods they love to eat, but an alternate way to prepare them. You might like that. So, if you give yourself five years to learn a new lifestyle, then, you could acquire proper habits. Since, I don't know what has occurred and what is your general health by the blood work done at your doctor's office, I can't really say much more. Another good book is by Adele Puhn, The Five Day Miracle Weight Loss Plan. I think that is the title. She helps people with little snacks during the day to maintain their blood sugar level. Actually, I think this plan or any plan would be exciting. It is like starting a new life. So for example, if you plan your meals for a week, then shop, you would be busy on a project. Along with that, include walking every day. Here is a website to help determine your intake and calorie buring: fitday.com. Don't pay any money. Just join, and you input the amount you eat, and exercise. You can set a goal, and generate charts. The site has the ability to evaluate your diet in terms of nutritional value. How you chose to live your life is personal. I am merely providing some alternatives, which I feel is what you have requested.

I think the reasoning behind it was sound and it did seem to work at the time, since it slowed the first few overs down for Australia. But would Steyn or Morkel have had the same effect? Perhaps. As Ponting said during his bit of 'commentary' while batting, the pitch was slower than they expected. That, plus the pressure he'd put on himself and a good fast straight one from 'hard to remove' (Steyn), was what got Warner out, not Botha's opening over. Botha bowling at the death wouldn't have made any difference. It was over with 1 over to go so he wouldn't have got to bowl the 20th anyway.
