Can I take 10 days off from the Atkins diet?

Can I take 10 days off from the Atkins diet? Topic: Can I take 10 days off from the Atkins diet?

Question: I recently started the Atkins diet, and plan on really sticking to it. I’m going on my honeymoon in 4 weeks, and was not planning on being on any diet when I am there. I will be on vacation for 8 days at an all inclusive resort! I’m wondering how severe the reaction would be to consuming carbohydrates during for that length of time if I was temporarily “off” of the diet?

I can't believe there are actually people out there who still follow the Atkins diet. It is so unhealthy. All those toxins from an excess of meat and animal fat have to go somewhere. Where to? They go to your fat cells. All that animal fat and all those toxins......what is the consequence apart from the damage to arteries and organs.....will precipitate more fat in the long run once you leave the diet for a normal diet. Follow a sensible eating plan......cut down on fatty and sugary snacks and get plenty of exercise. Good luck.

The low Carb diet is the worst diet out there. Once you get off of it you will gain weight fast. Especially if you eat carbs, the low carb diet is a way of life forever. Please consider this for best answer

Heres how to lose weight. First of all you must be consuming less calories then you are burning. Very simple concept. Secondly the only true way to lose weight permanently is through exercise. It is good to see you are exercising. Now when I say exercise I am referring to cardio exercise which is described as: Getting your heart rate up Using your legs For a duration of at least 20 minutes Now you must do this cardio exercise at least 5 days a week to see solid results. And I would recommend exercise longer than 20 minutes if you wish to see real results. The walking you do will help to some extent, but will have no where near the same effects as biking, running, swimming, etc. The weightlifting is also good to see. You are building muscle mass which requires more calories. Also make sure you are consuming more protein.

No ma'am. 10 days is too extensive for the atkins diet. I went on the atkins diet before I went to basic training in the army and I lost 20 lbs and gained all that right back within the first 2 weeks of training! I really wouldn't recommend taking that long off of your diet but then again, I would want to enjoy my honeymoon.

Just get off the diet! Enjoy yourself on your honeymoon! I mean, the world isn't going to end if you get off your diet for cryin' out loud. Just get back on the diet when you come back. I mean, the reaction can't be THAT bad... maybe a few lbs. if you really go on a binge.

It sounds like you are already on version of Atkins with the low carbs. I believe the Atkins diet will work, but only if it is adopted as a lifestyle change (longer term) than a diet or short term fix. In Atkins, primarily the emphasis is on increasing protein and minimizing carbs, with the exception of fruits and vegetables. Actress Courtney Thorne-Smith from the show Melrose Place has been the Spokesperson for Atkins for several years and you can check her out (if you have not already).
