I lost 130 lbs. on the Atlkin's Diet & have kept it off for two years. It was the easiest "healthy eating plan" that I've ever been on & I was never hungry. I learned the importance of drinking water each day. I exercised daily rain or shine because I knew it was all part of the lifelong package if I was going to be a total success. I was determined to lose the unwanted & unhealthy pounds & I stayed focused. I got a physical before starting the "healthy eating plan" & my doctor supported me all the way. I bought the paperback book "Dr. Atkin's Revolution Diet" & read up to the second of the four stages, the diet is comprised of. After the second stage, I read about the third stage & eventually, the fourth stage. I kept the book handy & referred to it often. I also drank green tea, in leaf form, daily, & it also helped me shed the unwanted pounds. People who have never read the book or tryed the diet, will poo poo it but that's okay. I ignore people like that. I lost the weight, so it worked well for me, & I have modified the healthy eating plan, to help me keep the weight off, yet keep me healthy. In the book, it tells how well the diet works for diabetics, etc. I weigh myself each day, first thing in the morning, so as to keep tabs on my weight. I went down nine pants sizes & had fun buying a brand new wardrobe, once I had reached my final goal. I set mini goals along the way, which made losing weight more realistic. This wasn't just a diet for me, it has been a lifestyle change & that's what it takes to be a success.

5 grams of carbs is not enough, in 4 days your still not FULLY in Ketosis. Your allowed 20 grams a day, EAT 20 grams a day. Don't play with the diet. Your craving because your blood sugar is still all over the place. If you were following the diet correctly your blood sugar would have probably leveled off by now and you wouldn't be craving. If you don't have the Actual book in hand, get it and FOLLOW it, don't improvise. Until your in full Ketosis your body is going through starvation (yes, even though your eating). Doing what your doing with the carbs can be very dangerous. follow the diet correctly. I lost 80lbs is 12 weeks staying in Phase 1 the whole time, but again if you improvise you asking for failure.
There's no shortage of people who think they know more than Dr. Atkins himself so they screw with the diet, then blame IT for it's failure. Or when the weight comes right back because they didn't listen.
Do it RIGHT and you'll be very happy with the results, keep up what your doing and you will guarantee a failure, or a trip to the hospital.
I had pretty good results. I tried the South Beach Diet and I lost about 8 pounds that one month that I was on it.
I decided that it wasn't for me though. Anytime my husband & I went out for dinner, even at a friend's house, I couldn't have most of what was offered. No wine, nothing.
But I think with time, if you stick with it, you're allowed certain things. But it just wasn't for me.
What was nice was that I was never hungry, but I did miss fruits, rice and bread.

use the freezer to add some extra oomph to summer foods freeze grapes for some bite sized delights or get a popsicle mold and freeze some greek yogurt with berries

Your failure comes with the word diet. It has to be a complete lifestyle change to be effective over the long haul.

sleep in a cold room sleeping in a cold room is a best way to force your body to heat itself up for hours

take every opportunity to move around even in small ways studies show fidgety people tend to be skinnier

limit if not eliminate all extras like butter mayonnaise ketchup dressing added sugar added oil etc

carry five grocery bags from the car to the kitchen and put the food away take out the trash wash the dishes and wipe down the kitchen counter
