At home laxatives or constipation remedies?

Question: Hello, this is kind of an awkward subject, but I'm pretty much looking for some kind of DIY laxative. Basically I've been on accutane for about two and a half months. My derm always asks about digestion and constipation so I know it's a side effect. The thing is I feel terrible and self conscious about the tiny amount of bloating and it can't be healthy to have to force yourself to go. I've been eating a lot of fibre in fruits, vegetables and I've been having activia yogurt because that usually helps. But literally nada. Just a lot of gas haha which I'm guessing is an activia effect working in another way. I don't really want a laxative that's going to drain me out from the drugstore unless I absolutely have to. Does anyone know a good at home treatment I can use? I've even tried tea. I'm almost desperate lol

try aloe vera juice. It seems to work really well and comes in different flavors, but the juice by itself really isn't that bad. Also you can drink magnesium citrate (a half to whole bottle). If these don't work, Epsom salt really seems to get you going lol but I didn't feel well and my muscles were weak temporarily afterwards.. depends on how desperate you are! Hope this helps (:

Prunes work for my little girl every time. I sneak them into her cereal or yogurt and then get ready for the motherlode!

Add several servings of fibrous whole grains, fruits (such as prunes or prune juice) and vegetables to your diet every day or opt for a fiber supplement. Fiber adds bulk to the intestines and creates well-formed stools that are easier to pass. Or try searching for homeopathic remedies products that will help you to overcome constipation naturally.

Coffee, ice cream, chocolate. Either one alone or all 3 together & you'll be going in no time! I've taken Accutane twice at high doses & have NEVER gotten constipation from it. Could be unrelated.

You probably need to improve your diet as you seem to have a constipation problem. For constipation, castor oil is very good for a one-off remedy as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22c... but it is unsuitable for regular use. For constipation, suppositories, laxatives, fiber supplements and enemas are all totally unnecessary if you eat the right foods. All fruit and vegetables in very large amounts are laxative. You need to permanently change your diet or you are likely to get colon cancer. Constipation can make you extremely unwell and can lead to colon cancer as it causes a build up of carcinogenic toxins in the system. The intake of foods such as milk, cheese, white rice, white flour and red meat should be restricted, because they tend to contribute to constipation. Any food that has had the fiber stripped out, the nutrients processed out or slows down the digestion is a constipation culprit. Here's a list of foods shown to cause constipation problems: •Meats, especially fatty meats, red meat and processed meats, •Dairy Products, such as cheese, ice cream and whole milk, •Fast Foods – burgers, French fries and other fried foods, pizza, etc., •Refined grains, like white rice or any refined white flour products, •Highly starchy foods – white potatoes, corn and all refined grains, •Pastries and other high sugar products, such as cakes, cookies and pies, •Deep-fried foods, chips and other foods that are high in bad fats. You can see lots more in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22n... which tells you "Natural Ways to Relieve Constipation" and the right foods to eat.
