At 38 weeks pregnant, is it normal to be experiencing this? Topic: At 38 weeks pregnant, is it normal to be experiencing this?

Question: As my title says, I am 38 weeks pregnant today. Last night at around 5pm, I started feeling very crampy. In the sense that I had to poop, but I couldn't. After spending some time in the bathroom just sitting on the toilet, nothing seemed to work for me. I have never had this problem at all during my pregnancy so I am not sure if this is normal. It's 9 am here, and I am still feeling this way. I can't poop at all and the cramps are still achy. My doctor suggested last week that I start taking Evening Primrose Oil to help soften and prepare my body for labor. I haven't had a problem with taking that. In fact, when I started, it was helping me go more frequently. But now... I can't go at all and it just hurts. Is this normal?

Get some prune juice from the grocery store, and heat up a cup of it. Make it as hot as a cup of coffee, then drink it. This usually works really well to soften and make it easy to pass your poo. You really don't want to be constipated at this stage - with all the pushing during labour its nice to NOT have a full bowel. If you still can't "go" I'd suggest asking the pharmacist for something to help .

I have had the same pains on and off since i was 9 weeks. My OB said that it was streching pain and that when you are constipated or a little overweight that the pains can be a bit worse than normal. I still have them and they are VERY bad when i do have to go to the bathroom. It feels like im miscarrying every time i get "sick" and have to go to the bathroom bad. Plus- the pains will be a bit worse around every 45 days because of the stretching. You will get a bit used to it and it will feel better when you lay on your left side or lean to the left. I don't know why but it has something to do with your nerves. I hope this helps and wish you luck!! I think your baby is fine because i've had the same issues and my child is still doing well at 23 weeks. HUGS!! Good luck!!

Usually a miscarriage is accompanied by red blood, which you didn't have. I mean cramping is always a bad sign, especially if it is bad but it could have been constipation.

Keep an eye on the cramps and the intensity of the cramps you are experiencing, 12 hours before I gave birth to my daughter, I had cramps and they started coming less than five minutes apart after a while, and so I called my doctor, went to the hospital, and I finally went to the bathroom, and 12 hours later, I had my daughter. It could be the onset of labor, keep an eye on the cramps and if they worsen and get uncomfortable, call your doctor and go to the hospital. Sounds like the process is beginning♥♥♥

I wouldn't worry about scary things like those. Just talk to your doctor in a couple of days if it doesn't clear up or if it gets bad. Otherwise, your body's probably righting itself.
