Question: I am 287 and i am five feet eight inches. I am in my last year of college and I am pretty sure I came in at about 200 pound. I don't want heart problems but i really need an efficient way to lose weight. Please help me.

Here's a few tips that work for me: I spend a long time in front of a computer screen. Often I just stare at the monitor for up to 15 seconds while a page load or a document gets printed or whatever it is that the computer is doing. When this is happening I lift my hands up over my head and then bring them down. I keep on doing this until the computer has finished whatever it is doing and it requires some input.,. from me. I do similar exercises like getting up from the chair and sitting down again. I sometimes might be standing up and might type a few sentences while standing. Combine this with drinking only water and I am doing something to lose weight. It is not much but doing it all the time it does help in losing weight. I might swap this sometimes. I might decide that I will not do the arm exercise for a week but that week I will get off the lift two floor below and walk up the last two floors. So long as when I go to bed at night I can say that that day I have done something extra to burn some weight, I am happy.

when you eat calorie friendly fruits and vegetables that are in season they tend to taste better and you re more likely to enjoy them

I just took up cycling, which was a real effort for about the first two weeks when I was going out for 10 minutes a day, every day, to build up my muscles and get used to it - especially the hills! After that I just enjoyed it so much, and it gets me everywhere so much quicker than walking (and for free!), that I do it all the time without really making a special effort. Whatever you do to lose weight you're going to have to do it forever to keep the weight off, so choose something you actually like and will keep up. Six weeks after I started cycling I still keep finding I can do way more than I expect, get up big hills I thought I'd never cycle all the way up and go further than I thought without really getting tired. I've really enjoyed leisure rides too, getting out of the city into the countryside on my days off in a way that means you really get to see it all, and visiting friends who live just that bit further than I could walk, taking the bike on the train and then cycling around in towns I've never seen before. I've also really integrated it into my lifestyle so can't really imagine going shopping etc without cycling there now - that means I'm pretty much going to keep this up forever now even when I'm not thinking about my weight or fitness any more. Even if you never learned to ride a bike, I know several people who learned as adults, and there are loads of good quality second hand bikes out there you could get pretty cheaply. Give it a go?

Weight loss boils down to 1 thing: use more calories than you eat. Try to exercise 30 mins a day minimum, and watch what you eat (aim for 2k calories a day, based on activity). Repeat forever. You'll get fitter and get slimmer. (2k calories a day + 30 mins of exercise - and I mean exercise, not reading or scratching your balls - equates to about a pound a week).

I honestly think you're at a nice weight for your height. And I'm jealous! I wish there was a magic formula for losing weight. Or potion as I'm lazy. You almost need to find what works for you...Most people find that writing things down to watch calories works...helping them to keep track of all the little things that add up. Excercise should be logged too. What works for me is usually whole grain toast with pb or an omelet with ham or turkey...then my next 2 meals I eat something from home that I've made, and pair it with a huge serving of vegetables... This keeps me fuller longer, and helps me not have so many calories. For example, today I had 2 whole grain waffles with natural peanut butter and some grapes. Lunch was a small portion of swedish meatballs, a can of peas, and a small bag of chips. Dinner was a small helping of spaghetti and 2 slices of garlic bread, a salad and a popsicle for dessert. This kept me full. I've noticed that cutting back on sweets and cakes and such helps as well, as I seem to get cravings right after I eat them. To cut down your calorie intake...record everything for a week or 2 weeks..then see where you need/want to go from there. I don't believe in pills / potions helping someone lose weight. Honestly if they helped you lose the weight you'd put them out of buisness? They're there to make money not lose it. Just my opinions.
