Drink lots of water. Eat wholegrain products and lots of fruit and vegetable. Try a mild stool softener (for a day or 2) - your doctor can prescribe that for you. In combination with drinking lots of fluid and eating more fibre that will work.
Did you have stitches? Maybe you are subconciously still afraid of straining because of them. I know I was a bit afraid of that at first, after I delivered.

I know this may sound a little crazy but if your dog is constipated she can eat a little canned pumpkin. it is kinda like a natural laxative. I do not recommend suppositories at all. How ever you can use a stool softener.they usually come in the form of a gel cap. The active ingredient you are looking for is Ducosate Sodium. We use this all the time at the Vet clinic I work at.
Drink lots of water and take stool softeners not laxatives cause they make your stomach cramp and most of the time it will make you go more than one or two times in a day...OUCH!

Before it gets too bad, you can get glycerine suppositories from the chemist. They lubricate your rectum & the poo will come out easier. I remember trying to go the toilet after babies was just like having the baby all over again!

add lot of fibers to your diet .....things like spinach help a lot too.....also it can be because of the iron content in your diet reducing that will also help and or consult your doctor

You might not be drinking enough water, especially if you are breastfeeding.
try increasing your fluid and fibre intake

Some things such as narcotics, antidepressants and other medications can cause nearly constant constipation. Some women have constipation every month associated with their period. For some people, "normal" may be going once every 2 or 3 days. Once a day isn't normal for everyone.
