no no no... if possible try and give them breast milk the anti-bodies in it will help them develop so much.. and if you cant do that then try changing the formula to something better on there tummies.. try and go to the Dr's too if possible, they may have an infection so it would be best to do that

My daughter was put on Soy twice and both times it constipated her horrible. It was to the point that we had to do rectal stimulation with a thermometer to make her go. In the process of doing this she quit breathing and we had to call an ambulance. It was the most horrible experience for me.
Congrats, on the babies...I too had preemies, and I know I was alot more nervous with them then I was with my daughter who was full term, but everything always turned out fine. The formula that you are giving them can be too strong for their bellies to handle. I use to buy those pin wheel mint candies and place a piece of one in warm water and I would give that to them the mint helps with constipation. But you can also find in the baby section at the store or pharmacy stuff called (epicap) it is a liquid form and it has a mint base along with other things and you put it in their formula or in water and it helps with constipation. It is also fine to use suppositories but not on a daily bases. But you should definitely go over this with your pediatrician, if it is not close to appointment time call them and I am sure you will get a return phone call. Best of luck to you and your family

first, u need to check whether u are giving the formula in the right concentration. if the water content in the formula is less, then constipation could arise as a result. if u are right in the concentration of the formula milk, then try to make it a bit more thin by adding a bit more water.
one important thing is that u should check whether ur babies are having umbilical hernia (bulging out of the belly button). if they have it (they could have it because they are premature babies, and many of the premies would have that), then it is better to consult the paediatrition, as the doctor may prescribe some medicine.
being constipated, the umbilical hernia could bulge more. if there is no umbilical hernia, try giving luke warm water. if the babies refuse to take the water, then u can try adding some sugar to it, as most babies who refuses water, would prefer it with a little sugar added. along with giving water, make the formula a bit thin too. hope this would work. good luck.

Baby-size glycerine suppositories (make sure they are baby size!) are the best things you can give, especially if they're in pain and need rapid relief.
It might make them cry when you put the suppository in, you might have to hold your finger over their butthole to keep the suppositories in...but I guarantee the suppository will make the baby do a dooey in 5-20 minutes!
