Question: I'm trying to figure out what foods I need to be eating to lose body fat besides doing cardio and strength training. Could anyone tell me what I specifically need to be eating? (like apples, salads, etc.). Over time, is it true that body fat will eventually go away little by little? (Stomach fat)

I think you already know the answer but I'll give you the answer anyway. Fruits, vegetables and lean sources of protein. It is not true that your body fat will just disappear by itself. Yes, if you follow the diet that it sounds like your on and you continue to exercise then your fat will shrink. And that's exactly what happens. Your fat cells shrink in size. They don't go away they just shrink and take up a lot less room under your skin. I hope that makes sense. Jesse

Absolutely no soda, not even diet soda. Drink water throughout the day. Also aim for 5 servings of fruit and vegetables per day. Try not to eat fast food, deep fried food or processed food as they have lots of unhealthy fats and chemicals. A bag lunch of whole wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and protein such as egg, tuna or chicken breast is healthy. An apple for dessert. At your age, you need good nutrition as you are growing, so don't worry about dieting. Instead, increase your exercising. I blog about healthy diet and exercise tips:

Stomach fat will go away as you shrink your belly. This is acomplished by spreading out your meals and cardio...as you know, this keeps your metabolism going all day. One big run and one big meal a day may be less food and more excercise than most people do, but you wont lose any fat that way. Break a sweat twice a day (5 days) and eat 5 small meals. The other fat fighter is of course muscle. Fat can't grow where muscle is. Situps and crunches in the morning and before bed can do wonders... I know people who eat what ever they want, drink beer, but do 50 crunches in the morn, 100 at night, and they are chisseled tight. Everybody is differernt. Play it safe until you see how your belly reacts. Green veggies are great, asperagus, brocc.. etc. Pomegrante is fruit that burns calories well... there are much more if you just search yahoo, but bottom line: fruits, veggies, lean meat (fish, chicken breast), whole grain bread, stay away from dairy. Did I mention GREENTEA is like supercharging your body. Drink a glass everyday.

One good way to lose fat is to not eat fat. Butter, grease, margerine, olive oil, vegetable oil, etc. are all things that are super easy to convert into body fat, because it only takes three calories to turn it into body fat. Eating lots of vegetables is the best way. the fiber in them makes you feel really full, so you WON'T feel starved (whoever said that is dumb) you feel full, so you won't crave the other foods as much. don't do the whole dressing thing though. lots of people claim that they are eating a healthy diet because they eat lots of salad. it's true that the salad is super good for them, but then they kill almost all of the nutritional value with a high-calorie, high-fat dressing. use a low-fat, low-cal, low-carb dressing if you have to, otherwise eat it plain, or squeeze a lemon over it. the less fat you consume, the less body fat you will have. and eating lots of veggies has a LOT more protein than eating a meat filled diet. plus you can eat all of the veggies you want. i recomend eating at LEAST one FULL head of lettuce every day. and broccoli has more protein (per 100 calories) than steak. I recommend reading the book "eat to live" by Dr. Furhman. he explains why all of the veggies work. I just finished it, and i am about to start my diet (probably tomorrow). the website is kind of bull, but the book is good and has SCIENCE based information. it isn't a fad diet, like the atkins and south beach diet bulls**t. the book is fairly interesting, though most of it won't apply to you, read ALL OF IT. if you skip parts, you will miss information that makes it easier to understand why you are doing something. it is very informative, and quite interesting. Weight training will do it. And you don't have to do it like a muscle man either, lighter weights will work. If you want to lose body fat, building muscle is the best way to do it. As you build muscles, they will use body fat as an energy source especially since you eat pretty well anyways. Plus pound for pound, muscle cells burn more calories than fat cells. So if you build more muscle, your metabolism will go up which in turn will burn more calories helping you to not store calories as fat.
