I weigh about 220 lbs and I want to lose a lot of weight in 5 months. If I give up soda and junk food, and drink a lot of water also I joined LA fitness, can I lose a lot of weight and condition my body by doing an hour of cardio and weight lifting in 5 months? Tips please

First off you do not have to spend any money at all to get health and shed a few extra pounds. Anyone that says you need to spend money is either after your money or is on some kind of scam.
Weight loss and getting in good shape is just eating a little less and being a little more active.
Walk more, drive less. If you drive, park 5 minutes walk away form your destination...
About the eating; nothing special is going to shed the weight, so eat what you normally eat, just a bit less. Less fat in meals will instantly help with weight loss.
All these gimmicks and spending money we don't have and don't actually need to spend really make me mad.
My GF and I go for a long walk (30 minutes) every night - rain or sine after out evening meal. If you search on Zuzana on YouTube, she has some excellent exercises you can do at home They all work in getting you beach ready!

you dont have to make a three digit number your weight loss goal aim for a certain dress size or waist measurement
get a personal trainer too at LA fitness and you'll lose weight more than just on your own because you will have a support system (trainer) who knows what they're doing and can help you reach your goals
do your grocery shopping with a list and a time limit that way you re less likely to stray into the processed foods section
walk your lunch outside or to another location in the office instead of sitting and eating at your desk
