Topic: need advice on advice from Doctor re: weight loss before surgery?
October 18, 2019 / By Damia Question:
My husband had been awaiting diagnosis and solution for ongoing pain and other symptoms for 7 years. There's been many investigations and medications in the lead up and the consultant he saw at the beginning of the month has said he needs a spinal fusion which is the right decision, and he needs to loose weight for it. He's been given 6 months. He's not obese but is overweight, but the consultant told him not to eat, at all, apart from 2-3 protein bars per day and water/black tea and coffee.
I work in the industry and have heard of this for extreme cases, but there's been no mention of a dietitians input or monitoring over the 6 months, and my colleagues and I feel this is unusual.
We're nearly 2 weeks in and he feels understandably awful but is motivated.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or any professionals out there that may have an opinion? The surgery is through the abdomen so I can certainly understand the need for weight loss and will aid recovery. It just seems a bit extreme that he's been given these instructions with no professional support along the way. Advice or ideas appreciated.

My breasts were the same size when i was your age. I did get a breast reduction, but i waited until i was 19. I decided to wait so my breasts could grow more before the surgery. I recommend you wait until you are 18, but if it is unbearable, look into surgery now and see what the doctor recommends.
When i was 15 i was a 36DDD and when i was 19 i was a 36G. so waiting was a very good idea.
Getting this surgery was one of the best decisions i have ever made.
please take a 40 subsequent break in the center of your own mealtime consider just how famished anyone however are usually prior to getting returning to the meat

First off you do not have to spend any money at all to get health and shed a few extra pounds. Anyone that says you need to spend money is either after your money or is on some kind of scam.
Weight loss and getting in good shape is just eating a little less and being a little more active.
Walk more, drive less. If you drive, park 5 minutes walk away form your destination...
About the eating; nothing special is going to shed the weight, so eat what you normally eat, just a bit less. Less fat in meals will instantly help with weight loss.
All these gimmicks and spending money we don't have and don't actually need to spend really make me mad.
My GF and I go for a long walk (30 minutes) every night - rain or sine after out evening meal. If you search on Zuzana on YouTube, she has some excellent exercises you can do at home They all work in getting you beach ready!
Best wishes, RR
