Question: I don't have that much belly fat, like an inch or an inch and a half, but it bothers me that I am soooooo close to being flat. I have been swimming 6 hours a week for 3 years (swim team) and the hour and a half in gym puts me over the regular 'hour-a-day' excercise thing, but I am still not losing weight. I don't eat much either.

Hi dear, follow these guidelines to get rid of belly fat - Start exercising. Getting a flat stomach involves losing belly fat. To achieve this, start a workout routine. If possible, exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Practice breathing exercises, workout or get a massage. - Reduce abdominal bloating. A low-fiber diet and certain foods can produce abdominal bloating. This prevents a flat stomach. an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture, for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week, guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

Some pedometer will show you how much calories you lost from each amount of steps you took. They are only about 10$ at some stores. 2,500 steps is burning about 108 calories a day. You may also use other exercises as a substitute for walking. Swimming for a few hours or even doing some yard work for a few hours (Example, digging a hole to plant trees.) As long as you're sweating it's good. Sign up for a sport too. That way you'll have to exercise at practice or the coach will probably get mad. So you'll have motivation. Hope I helped.

losing fat is more about diet than exercise. you are obviously working out enough, but you aren't eating right. you should eat 4-6 small meals a day, include a lean protein (eggs, chicken, fish, cottage cheese) in each meal to keep your energy. be sure to eat lots of fresh food, especially lots of fruits and veggies (more veggies than fruit) cut out any and all processed foods: white pasta, bread and rice, anything containing high fructose corn syrup and/or artificial sweeteners (salad dressing, cereal, most boxed snacks, diet drinks) the best way to do this is: when grocery shopping, stay around the perimeter of the store, try not to go down the aisles, except to get whole grain food items like brown rice, whole grain pastas, breads and cereals, olive oil and spices. drink plenty of water to keep hydrated...about 96 oz a day. if you are consistant with eating "clean" and healthy, you will be lean for life. good luck!!

Were you ever bigger when you were younger? it could be just skin and not fat.. If it is, then swimming isn't going to help much, you need a more targeted approach. Like already said, crunches are a good way, but you need to work the entire mid section so don't ignore your sides either.. And no tree bark and other hippy remedies will not help here.

In your case, since you are active, then next step would be to go on a strict diet that is low in carbs and higher in protein content. Getting flat abs takes huge dedication to not just exercise but diet as well. Good Luck!

Get at least 1 hour of healthy, challenging exercise a day, this is the number one answer to weight loss. Doesn't really matter what kind of exercise it is if your goal is just to lose a few extra pounds. Just get your heart rate up and your body sweating for full one hour (don't forget to include a warm up/stretching in that hour). Exercise is also the only thing that will help you 'tone,' which is usually what people are trying to achieve by dieting anyway. The best 'move' I have found for getting rid of that stubborn belly pudge is a variational of the Captian's Chair. Get in the position for a classic crunch:on your back, hands behind your head, legs bent with feet on the floor. Now instead of curling straight up for a crunch, you are going to take your right elbow and touch it to your left knee. Move so they both meet above your stomach. Next do the opposite. Touch your left elbow to your right knee, with them meeting above the middle of your stomach. Once you get the hang of the motion, you will be able to do it more rapidly, it almost feeling like pedaling. Interlace your hands behind you're neck/head and let your head lean on them for support. I count one rep for every set of elbow touches (left and right). Try four sets of 20 reps. Now that you're putting your body to work with some exercise, it's time to eat healthy. Skip the calories chart and look at the ingredients of what you're eating. All artificial cr**? Doesn't matter if it's no calories, it's not going to help you lose weight. How much fiber does it have? Fiber is an excellent natural way to help clean up your colon and help encourage weight loss (introduce fiber to your diet slowly and in moderation or you will be on the toilet). It helps you lose weight and stay healthy by flushing waste and toxins out of your body.
