Question: Hi I am a 68 kg female and I am planning to go on a protein diet for 45 days. I know protein diet has some drawbacks, that's why I plan to continue it for 45 days in the start. I want to know that how much weight will I be able to lose on average with this weight and a BMI of 24.96 in 45 days of protein diet? As this is for short term, I plan to survive strictly on proteins during these 45 days. Spinach, nuts and cabbage are also in this list along with the protein rich foods. Also devise me a diet plan by which I can lose 30 pounds in these 45 days. Thank you

Dont eat only protein, your body NEEDS fat.You are gonna feel terrible eating solely protein. Protein and fat are absolutely needed to keep your body in good working order (especially your brain). Carbs are of lesser importance and in case of weight loss should be the thing that needs to be cut down severely. That includes scrapping sugar, rice,pasta,grains, breads. Look into paleo diets/low carb diets, those are healthy and effective ways of losing weight while keeping the body in a healthy state.

Plus, it's hard to keep the weight off unless you reincorporate carbs very very gradually. Keep in mind, though, a low carb diet will probably make you grumpy, as carbohydrates can be linked to serotonin levels in the brain. High protein diets usually also involve high levels of fat, and are bad for your liver and kidneys because they have to work harder to process all the extra fat and protein. So be very careful with these diets, and don't try them for long periods of time. I would say 6 weeks, most. Check out the South Beach diet, it seems more realistic than the Atkins.

I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs. I don't count calories, carbs, fats, or points. I just focus on eating the right type of foods. I use protein shakes with a high protein diet, but my goals are to gain weight. I recommend getting whey protein, but drink it only olny once you've woken up, and after your workout THATS IT. everything meal in the middle should be with chicken, eggs and all that jazz. The importance of whey is that is the fastest absorbing whey protein out there. So after you workout and take whey your body will utilize the protein much faster than if you were to eat a chicken breast or have 2-3 egg whites.......so definatley get some whey protein. Since you are trying to cut up (lose fat) take the protein with water NOT MILK, milk just has excess calories you dont need. The whey protein I use is EAS 100% Whey PRotein form sams club...its cheap and effective. I ve also started using MuscleTech Premium whey protein, also from sams club, I just started using it so I cant give you any pros or cons yet. Ive heard that the Body Fortress whey protein from Wal-Mart is exelent, but it only comes in 2 pound boxes, whereas the ones from Sams club come in 5 pound bags. Yes definatley get some whey...no soy; soy has estrogen and will give you man-boobs. And also eat a high protein diet.
