One of my cats is very overweight and is around 20 pounds. What is some cat food that will really help her loose weight? We have tried having her on a chicken diet and she also hates wet cat food.
Thanks so much, ten points will be awarded for the best answer

Ok well i don't know everything but my brother works at a pet shop and he said to NEVER EVER give your cat food that has CORN in it! The reaspn why is because they can't digest it and that may cause them to throw up. So just look or any type of cat food that doesn't inculed CORN we give our cats none corn food and they love it! Ok so about the weight lost thing i can say theres really no way to loose such pounds might want to ask the vet to maybe you might have to run with her on a jog, i know it sounds weird but you want the best for your cat:) Allsmiles:D

Because the ingredients in the unhealthy food are so cheap they're actually cheaper than the healthy stuff.
In the past fruit & vegetables always used to be cheaper than animal products, but thanks to some modern inhumane intensive farming methods and new methods of carcass processing (for example "mechanically recovered/separated meat" etc) its very cheap to get a bit of animal on your plate these days.
What part of that animal though is another question (its not even technically meat most of the time), but when its all processed into a nice nondescript paste which is then cooked up in a shape with some flavourings & additives etc people don't seem to really care!
But yeah. I know farming, i know food factory work. I've lived/worked in both and i've done a lot of research on these matters too, and long story short my advice is: Save your pennies up for the better quality healthier food and avoid such processed foods (chicken nuggets, cheap sausage meat, burgers etc) like the plague! You'll be doing your health a big favour- its not just gross & fattening a lot of what they put in junk/fast food, there are major concerns over the long term health implications over a lot of the other things they add to food.
Prescription weight loss food is the way to go - Purina OM (overweight management) is the best because it is low carb high protein. You still have to feed a certain amount - cannot free feed an overweight cat or they will never lose weight. Another option is Hill's Science Diet R/D. To get either, you have to speak to your vet. If you cannot go to the vet or cannot afford it, then try a diet formulated for weight loss or healthy weight, like an indoor cat formula from Iams, Science Diet or Purina. You have to feed a very small amount though! Less than what the bag recommends. Good luck.

Any quality brand diet food will do. Ask your vet what s/he recommends.
The basic principal of weight loss is the same for pets as it is for humans: Less calorie intake (diet) + increased calorie output (exercise) = weight loss.
So with that in mind, ask your vet to help you figure out what diet regimen to follow.
Then, play with your cat - get him/her moving. Try toys, try chasing her around the house, try rolling around on the floor with her, try play-fighting (just be careful not to get her too riled up)... do anything, just interact with her and get her moving. Get the other cats involved too and other family members.
Also, stop feeding your cat human food (if you do). The food we prepare for ourselves has way too much fat and WAY too much sodium for cats. This can lead to diabetes, urinary & kidney problems an a whole slew of other long-term health problems.

you can try Iams they have specific formulas for weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. and on the side of the bag it tells u how much to feed ur cat to make them loose weight and how much to keep them the same. its not starving your cat its just they put more of the stuff your cat needs in less food. it really works and my cat loves it.
