Question: i am training for a 1/2 marathon. i have a fair bit of muscle for my size. i am 5'3 and i weigh 124lbs, but i am a size 3-4 ( i look about 110-115lbs). i could stand to lose a few more inches around my hips though. considering that i would like to lose another 7-8% body fat and become leaner. i do light weight and i cross train on a stationary bike. i am running approx 25-30k a week and my schedule will have me increasing about 10-12% a week for the next 3 months. i make sure to eat well breakfast lunch and dinner with fruit as snacks, whole grain and lot's of veggies. does anyone have any advice to help me tweak my fitness and help me lose body fat and get leaner??? actually my body fat % is somewhere around 25%. 7% would put me @ 18%. and did you know athletes average body fat % is around 15%. still healthy!!! there is a difference between starving yourself to lose body fat and being active to lose body fat... im not trying to starve myself!!!

First of all I would gain some muscle, increase the weights that you lift and maybe invest in some protein shakes. Muscle gain will decrease your body fat and make you look leaner, but also if you have more muscle mass, your body naturally burns more calories while you rest and burns more fat when you excercise, also decreasing your body fat %.

Atkins diet - lots of protein, low carbs. Also watch the amount of fat and sugar you eat. Weight lifting AND cardio. You're gonna have to lose weight (fat) and gain it (muscle) simultaneously. Depending on how big your abdominal muscles get, your body fat level should be around 5 to 10%.

do you understand what body fat does cause i seriously doubt it firstly if you lose that much you will be severely underweight your bmi is 22 right now which is extremely healthy. your body needs fat for maintaining your temp and stuff 7-8% would put you at15-16 percent which is way to low since 18.5 is the lower end of healthy see your doctor before you start anything this stupid

i advise you to drink green tea 1-3 glasses per day green tea speeds up your metabolism drink lots and lots of water 8 glasses each day. do not snack do not eat 6 meals a day, try to only eat 3 if you are really hungry and you've had all your daily meals snack on fruits ( oranges, apples, bananas ) exercise more try and run for at least 30 minutes a day get more active eg: instead of asking your mom to pass you the remote control get it your self it does count as extra exercise get more sleep it prepares your body stretch, yes it works and it doesn't just help you lose weight it helps with you're growing to make you a little taller count your calories try to stay under the amount of 1300 calories per day change you're lifestyle it makes a difference do not eat candy or chips eat more greens or protein bars avoid fast food and cut out fried food tell you're mom when she cooks you're meal to oven cook you're food do not fry it chew gum because when you chew gum you do not pick at food for example if theres some chips in you're cupboard you go to them a think good damn they look good then you would say no i cant pick at them because i dont wanna throw my gum away do not eat after 6pm because before 6pm you can burn all you're food off and if you eat after six it will lay on you're stomach as you eat. do not eat before you go to sleep drink a glass of water before you go to sleep drink plain hot kettle water because it speeds up you're metabolism do not weigh you're self everyday because it torments you, weight you're self once a week ( every Monday ) good luck! you can safley lose 2 to 3 lbs. a week also for abs try, lay on your back, put your hand over your head on the floor you can even hold on to something heavy to keep you down and then lift your legs up and down it burns but it works really good! <3

When you do vigorous exercise, your body takes glycogen from muscle as its energy source. This is because vigorous energy burns calories quickly, and the cells need that energy supply quickly. The best way, truly, to lose fat, is to take long slow walks. This allows your body to go to fat cells for energy. By all means continue your vigorous aerobic training for heart health, but to lose fat, take long slow walks.

If you're going to run so much every day you need to run really slow and eat snacks every 30 minutes so your body doesnt start burning muscles for that much needed energy. Its better to run 3 miles a day and keep it steady, while reducing carbs/fat/sugar from your diet.
