Question: I want to know any good food recipes (healthy) trying to be on a diet.... I mostly love to eat pasta. But I also want to know healthy recipes for other foods. So anyone comment your favorite healthy recipe:)

Veggie Quinoa 1 cup vegetable broth 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa 2 teaspoons olive oil 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1/2 cup broccoli florets 1/2 cup diced firm tofu 1/4 cup vegetable broth 1/4 cup sliced mushrooms 1 cup chopped fresh spinach Directions In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup vegetable stock to a boil. Stir in the quinoa and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. While quinoa is cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic, broccoli florets, and tofu. Stir for a minute, then cover and steam over low heat for 2 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup vegetable broth, mushrooms, and spinach. Cover and cook over medium heat until the mushrooms are soft and spinach is wilted, about 3 minutes. Stir the vegetable-tofu mixture into the cooked quinoa. Cover, and allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.

MACARONI AND SHRIMP SALAD 1 lb. macaroni, cooked 2 or more lbs. shrimp, cook, peel and cut in 1/2 inch or smaller Mix, add salt and pepper to taste. Then mix dressing. DRESSING: Salad dressing 1/4 c. vinegar 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 tsp. celery seed 1/4 tsp. Old Bay Cook sugar and vinegar until sugar is dissolved. Add Old Bay, celery seed and boil 1 minute. Mix this with 1 pint of salad dressing, then mix into the macaroni and shrimp. Makes a large bowlful. SALMON CROQUETTES 1 stack crackers, crushed fine 1 lg. can salmon 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 egg Black pepper Extra crackers to roll croquettes in Mix all ingredients and shape around cheese cubes. Roll in cracker crumbs. Drop in deep fat fryer until done HAM POTATO & TOMATO SOUP CASSEROLE 6 slices of ham 8 potatoes, sliced 4 onions, sliced 1 lg. can tomato soup, diluted with water Layer ham, potatoes and onions. Put can of tomato soup over the above and bake at 375 degrees until tender. You may simmer on top of the stove also. Ham slices when cut are in serving pieces. Serves 6.

Well considering pasta isn't exactly healthy that rules out those dishes. Number one thing that is over eaten by most people is grains. Grains have excessive carbs which turn to sugar and if your body doesn't utilize that sugar guess where it goes....to your ***, or whatever place you don't want it to go to. I have a few healthy recipes. Creamy avocado soup. 2 large avocados peeled and pitted 8 green onions 2 cups of veggie stock 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/4 teaspoon of cumin 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder 1 cup of coconut milk Place ingredients except coconut milk in blender and blend. Add the coconut milk and blend till smooth. Add more seasonings if you like. California Chicken Salad: 3 cups of mixed lettuce 3 oz of grilled chicken chopped strawberries mandarin orange pieces 1/4 cup of pecans cranberries raspberry vinaigrette Put the salad in a bowl and top with the other ingredients. Then drizzle some of the vinaigrette on top. Goat and veggie curry 1 onion sliced 3 baby bell peppers sliced (red, orange and yellow) baby Bella mushrooms zucchini sliced goat pieces(you can use any animal but I find goat to be very tender and it's quite healthy) 1 tbs olive oil 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp cardamom 1 tsp coriander 2 tbs turmeric 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/4 tsp cayenne Cook the veggies till almost tender as well as the goat in the olive oil. When done stir in the spices and a little bit of water. Turn the heat down to low and let cook for about 10 more minutes. Oh and btw when you do eat pasta a serving is 1 cup cooked. A serving of rice is 1/2 cup cooked also.

The Moosewood Cookbook and The Enchanted Brocolli cookbook are amazing and a lot of the recipes are simple. I make Tabouli a lot. I chop a bunch of curley parsley, fresh mint, scallions, thawed (not cooked) baby peas, a couple tomatoes and about 1/2 cup (soaked) bulgar...olive oil and lemon juice dressing ---YUM! Also, lentils are easy. Saute an onion in a frying pan and in another pan bring a bag of washed lentils and 6-8 cups of water to a boil and simmer until soft. Add brown rice to bulk it up. Add 2 parts water to every 1 part rice you add. Add the onion and a dash of cumin and eat with Franks Red Hot sauce.

Butter Fried Potatoes Ingredients: 4 1/2 tablespoons butter 2 large potatoes, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 1/2 onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 tablespoons butter Directions: Melt 4 1/2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook and stir potatoes until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Meanwhile, melt remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons butter in another skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion and garlic until tender, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue cooking until garlic is lightly browned, 5 to 10 minutes more. Stir onion mixture into potatoes. Cook and stir potatoes and onion until potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes more.

Here's one Before preparing the salad, macerate the stale bread, cut into pieces, soak in 12 ½ cups water flavored with 1/4 cup of vinegar for about 2 hours. Drain well. Prepare and dice the celery, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Place the tomatoes, celery, cucumbers, onion, and basil in a terrine dish. Add the drained bread. Season with oil, salt, and vinegar. Let it rest for about one hour. Arrange Panzanella and gambas on serving dish. Garnish with basil and round tomato slices. Season with olive oil and serve.

The word healthy means different things to different people depending on their state of health. For instance, a person with heart disease is told by their doctors to eat low-fat/low-cholesterol/low-salt diets. A diabetic is told to eat low-carb (low-sugar) diets. A person with Celiac disease is told not to eat anything with gluten. You said you are on a diet. One thing you need to find is what causes you to gain weight. With me, if I eat anything with fats (butter on toast - for instance), I will gain weight so for me, I stay away from foods cooked in butter or oils, salad dressings (mayonnaise is my fav but my worst enemy), etc. Things with carbs cause a lot of people to gain weight (such as your pasta or anything with flour like toast, breading on meats, rice, potatoes, desserts with flour or sugar in it, etc.)

Blend/puree until creamy & smooth. put in container. put in fridge until ready to serve. lemon rice: - 4 cups rice - 3 cups water - 1/2 cup oil - 1/2 cup lemon juice boil water. add lemon juice & oil. add rice. cover & let cook. fluff with fork & recover to let simmer. add lemon zest for garnish. hope I helped! Go to a local library or big bookstore and browse through all the books in the cookbook section. Start with the regular American foods. There are so many types of cookbooks targeting various audiences with any number of special needs. Even if you find one that includes "healthy recipes" scan through the recipes to see if those are foods or ingredients that you would actually buy, prepare and eat. Also notice if you have the necessary utensils to prepare the food - if you like that style of food preparation. If you find a book that you like, note the title and author. If it's too expensive, ask for it as a birthday or Christmas gift. The other option is, note what healthy foods you like to eat, for instance wraps, salads, stir fry cooking, soups, stews, casseroles. Then look up the recipes in the internet.
