Question: I am lifting weights 5 days a week and walking 5 miles a day /7 days a week. I take a multivitamin/Multimineral, I keep my carbs low roughly 30 grams a day(Ketogenic diet for 4 weeks, then switching to Cyclic Ketogenic diet) If I'm not mistaken, the human population lived on a Diet of mainly meat for 50 Million years. A diet of meat is how our brain increased in size. I knew I would get these kinds of answers. I am following the Anabolic diet by Dr. Mario DiPasquali where I do carb loading on the weekends. Of course everyone is intitled to their opinion. I will update when I lose the 45lbs of fat I need to lose. I got this diet advice from www.bodybuilding.com, I was basically looking for motivation from people who have done this successfully. To the rest of you, thanks for nothing. Don't play with it, I kind of agree you will lose muscle. Any diet where you restrict calories whether low carb or not, you are going to lose muscle, there is no way around it. This Anabolic diet is supposed to minimize muscle loss (I hope). I am 5'10" 240lbs with 19% bf. I GOTTA get the BF #s down to 9% or less. My original goal was to bench/squat/deadlift 500lbs. I acheived those goals (except for the bench, only got to 405) I am tired of looking like a power lifter and want to see my abs. I have had great success on just the diet and weight lifting alone. So I imagine adding 5 miles of cardio is going to blast me into shape within 6 months. The low Carb diet is the worst diet out there. Once you get off of it you will gain weight fast. Especially if you eat carbs, the low carb diet is a way of life forever. Please consider this for best answer

Heres how to lose weight. First of all you must be consuming less calories then you are burning. Very simple concept. Secondly the only true way to lose weight permanently is through exercise. It is good to see you are exercising. Now when I say exercise I am referring to cardio exercise which is described as: Getting your heart rate up Using your legs For a duration of at least 20 minutes Now you must do this cardio exercise at least 5 days a week to see solid results. And I would recommend exercise longer than 20 minutes if you wish to see real results. The walking you do will help to some extent, but will have no where near the same effects as biking, running, swimming, etc. The weightlifting is also good to see. You are building muscle mass which requires more calories. Also make sure you are consuming more protein.

I hate it when people mention high-pro low carb diets! OMG they are such innappropriate diets for humans. Eating a diet largly based on raw fruits and veggies,whole grains,nuts,fish,and VERY small amounts of red meat and poultry will have you energetic and it will keep you at the appropriate weight. This diet is also called the Mediterranean Diet. The best most effective diet that prevents a variety of chronic diseases. Look it up.

It won't help you if you only have 30 grams a day. You need at least 66 grams a day because your body will think your not eating and just keep storing more fat. As for exercise that excellent. If you don't eat you won't burn fat though.
