I didn't go for 3 and a half weeks after I had a surgery. I was also unable to move active which did not make it any easier and I was on pills that causes constipation. The doctors only started getting concerned when I had cramps and pains in my stomach. Sometimes our bowel movements restart after a surgery due to the medications, diet, and discomfort. If you are not excessively bloated or having any cramping then don't worry about it. Begin to worry about it by day 8. Also try taking the stool softener 3 times a day. That is what the doctors did to me. If nothing happens you could be impacted and need an edema which they will give to you at a hospital or doctors office. In the mean time also eat foods high in brand and fiber and try to chock down some prune juice. Feel better!

since you recently had surgery, it could be a few days til you get everything functioning properly. Considering you were probably on liquids for the first day or so after your surgery, there wouldnt be a lot in there to "move" out... What "mild laxative" did you take? You could try colace, or senokot works very well. You can take up to four colaces a day (two twice a day), or four senokots (two twice a day). That usually helps get things moving...

Not to worry, it's like as storm building up before it erupts. Eat carrots or raw veg. Keep close to the toilet.

Percocet can make it hard to poop. Get some Mirilax tomorrow and if that doesn't work, call the doc. You might want to call the doc anyway. I had bowel surgery and it took a little while for things to get "moving" again, and the Miralax was a godsend. And it isn't a stimulant laxative so you won't explode the toilet.

Diana, this is serouis you probably have a bowel obstruction, have you tried fleets enema, I can not believe a doctor said Lets wait an see what happens after a 22 day stretch without a bowel movement, this is serious try the enema if you don"t have any results go back to the doctor or the ER.
