Question: i'm 17 and i play soccer and have a very fast metabolism. i'm 6'2" and weigh about 160 pounds. i am muscular but also kind of skinny because i have no body fat. i try to eat alot of calories and i weight lift about every other day with as much rest as i can in between, but with high school and not always being hungry its hard to find time or energy to keep eating or workout. can any one help or offer suggestions from experience on how to start gaining weight, i'd like to weigh atleast 180 if not more but from muscle not fat. also i'd like to gain more muscle mass on my arms, neck, back, shoulders, chest, and maybe legs but it seems to take awhile to notice any growth. http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/may191/n847340385_5192183_754.jpg http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/may191/n847340385_5192184_1053.jpg http://i359.photobucket.com/albums/oo31/may191/n552160347_984022_5889.jpg i just feel really skinny and self conscious, any suggestions on work outs, diets, or ways to increase appetite and eat more would be very helpful! thanks

Eat lots of carbs and high calorie foods, but maintain a good exercise routine otherwise you'll wind up with a lot of blubber instead of the good kind of weight, i.e. muscle. Eat pasta, rice, bread, lots of dairy, chicken, fish, and on occasion red meat (cut out processed meats, they're bad for you), along with fruits and vegetables. WORK OUT BY LIFTING WEIGHTS!! After workout, drink a protein shake. They sell good ready-made ones at Walgreens in the health section called Myoplex. The shake must be consumed 30 minutes post workout or else your time in the gym was for naught. Stay off junk food like potato chips, cookies, cakes, sweets, twinkies, chocolate, and definitely stay off soda. these foods have absolutely 0 nutritional value and severly damage your body further down the road. Ignore the idiots who advised you to eat at McDonalds and to eat junk food. They're probably lugging around rolls of belly fat right now. Keep this routine consistent and you will see results in a few short weeks.
