You DO NOT have to be skinny in order to be a model. Although most runway work is preferred to be by skinny tall models. You need to be at least 5'7" for runway work. They like people who are well toned, so if you would like to lose weight, excersie to get rid of excess fat, while toning your body at the same time.
If you don't know anything about modeling (its not all try on clothes, smile and snap a picture), I'd advise you to take modeling classes. There are many out there, but quite expensive. Look around (phonebooks, online) and make sure the classes have a lot to offer, and not just after your money.
Find an agent who will help you find jobs. Agents aren't easy to find either. I'm not sure where you live, but if you live in a small town, unless you are discovered by an agent, you aren't going to be able to start a career in modeling anytime soon. Modeling is very competitive, so don't feel bad if you don't book jobs right away. Good luck!

Well...I read all the answers...and I am pretty sure none of these people know anything about losing weight...and more than half of them don't sound like they even care!
Take it from someone who is also 5'8" and use to weigh 160....and now weighs between 125 and 130. You might also like to know that I am pursuing a career in modeling. So here is what I got:
You want to join an online forum so you can gain some knowledge and support from other people who actually care about you reaching your goals, I recommend bodybuilding.com. Awesome website, great helpful people, and LOTS of information!
What worked for me:
I started lifting weights for 45 minutes to 60 minutes TOPS three days a week: Monday - Chest/Shoulders/Triceps; Wednesday - Back/Biceps; Friday - Legs (sometimes I add abs if I feel like it, but working the abs really is not necessary unless you want the fat covering your ab muscles to be pushed out even further).
After each lift, I do low intensity cardio (walking at a slightly faster pace) for anywhere from 15-40 minutes. **Walking/Low Intensity cardio is IDEAL for burning fat. I've done my research and I've lost the weight to prove it! On the other days when I am not lifting, I do about one and a half hours of low intensity cardio (not all at once!). I do like two 45 minute sessions keeping my heart rate around 120-140. Take a day off and dont worry about exercise. You need to know that when it comes to losing weight...it is 80% in the kitchen! What you are putting in your body and how much you are putting it!!!
You really need to figure out how many calories you normally eat a day and then do some research online to find out how many calories you should be eating. You need to eat a deficit of 500 calories a day or burn it off by working out to lose a pound a week (I know that doesn't seem like a lot of weight to lose in on week, but the max should be around 2 pounds...otherwise you are losing muscle, NO GOOD! Plus the faster you lose weight...the harder it is to keep it off in the long run). You can do some research on the KETO diet, the ABS Diet, and other diets listed on that website and figure out which one would suit you best. Learn more about the right foods to eat and learn that good fats....poly and mono...are ESSENTIAL to a healthy body!! Good fats equals losing bad fat!!!!!!!!
You DO need to be tough on yourself and be commited...but sometimes you need a break. It's okay to skip a workout from time to time...and to have a "treat" or a "cheat meal" and if you mess up...it's okay just get back on track! AND DONT SKIP MEALS! I usually eat around 6 meals a day (obviously not huge).

At your age there is not much you can do besides what you are doing. Your weight will bounce up and down until you stop growing. It will still bounce then but not as much. Just don't get to skinny . See if there are some modeling classes in your area and ask your parents if you can attend. If possible write to some of the models and ask them what it takes. If you look in some of the magazines on modeling you will see different shaped models today. Not all of them are skinny. Companies are now starting to hunt for the more natural look today.

You are 14, you should NOT be dieting because your body is still growing. Try eating healthier food choices and being more active but do not limit the calories or types of food you are eating.
To begin in modeling, look around your area and volunteer to work at local bridal, prom dress exhibits etc.. Local department stores are also usually looking for girls to model for low or no pay. It is a good way to get your face out there and to find other modeling contacts. Also, people can tell you more specifically what you need to work on. Good luck!

The best way to lose weight is doing exercise.
The best type of exercise for weight loss is something you ENJOY DOING and are likely to continue doing - not just while losing weight but also as you maintain weight in the long term.
Your initial fitness goal should be to do 30 minutes of exercise each day. Thereafter, gradually increase this (ideally) to about 60 minutes of exercise per day.
The best combination of exercise is a mixture of aerobic and weight/strength training (and stretching). Aerobic and weight/strength training exercises both assist weight loss but in different ways.

anyways talk to your mom about why you want to lose weight. i know i know, u r probably thinking parents never understand, they are just gonnna end up yelling at me blah blah blah, well tell your mom (key word) WHY you want to lose weight, the reason you want to lose weight is becasue you want to be a model, the media and fashion industry is a large factor in why girls are dieting and starving themselves just so they can be models, so anyway tell your mom how much this means to you, and she i think she will be totally happy that you want to be a model but maybe not happy about dieting, first of all you do not have to be ''skinny'' be a model, skinny can mean a lot of things, it can mean something different to me than what it can mean to you, since you say you are not fat but not skinny either then it sounds to me like you are normal, and there are a whole bunch, like a bajillion million, girls out there who look normal and are still successful models, i think that if you try hard enough at being a model and you set your mind to it, then a perferct opportunity will come along, all you have to do is try and persevere, i think that maybe someone out there will think you are perfect just the way you are and cast you for a photo shoot, or run way show , so to sum it all up, you are probably perfect just the way you are, don't try to diet, try to be healthy, and if someone ever thinks that you are not thin enough then f*** them, a better oppurtinity will come along, remeber all you have to do is try and believe in your self

You can lose 5-20 pounds in a week, it wont be healthy and when you come off your diet your probably balloon to an even bigger size as your body prepares for another stupidly insane fast.
You should only be looking to lose 1-2 pounds of fat any more will be due muscle waste (muscle also helps burn fat).
You have 11 days to lose weight so you will probably be able to lose 3 pounds.
My advise pop some diet pills and report back im interested in how much a person could physically lose within that time.
