Question: I have been advised to go on a low carb diet to lose around 21 pounds (inc. stomach fat) but I do not want to cut out carbs completely as I have been told that that's unhealthy. On average, I probably consume around 2500 calories and probably around 248+g of carbs each day (I think I calculated wrong). Do you think that if I limit myself to 40g of carbs each day I'll be able to lose at least 2lbs each week? What food can't I eat? What foods can I eat? I plan on going for a 30 min jog each morning. This is what I plan to eat once I start my diet. Breakie: Scrambled egg Snack: An orange? Lunch: 2 whole meal breads (15.1g of carbs each) with chicken quorn pieces and mayo Snack: Not sure Dinner: Mackarel (sp?) with salad and mayo I'm not really a big fan of meat. Can anyone give me any meal and snack ideas with virtually no carbs? I need to be able to take the snack with me easily. Will I need to take any vitamin supplemets? Also, how do I go about maintaining the weight loss? Is it possible to lose more than 2lbs each week? If so, how?

I have been on low carb diets before & they can work. It all depends on what you are going to eat & how much. This is what I eat: Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs & 1 slice spouted grain bread Snack: raw veggies Lunch: Baby carrots & spouted grain bun with: almond butter left over chicken hummmus Snack: raw nuts Dinner: meat or fish with veggie & salad Your Breakfast seems low (scrambled egg). You need more protein & nutrients to get you through the morning. I don't have mayo because it is filled with things that are not good. Start slowing & work yourself up. If you move too fast, you will have side effects from not eating what you did before.

Bread is one of the worst "foods" on the planet. Unfortunately it is a staple food across the world. That being said, no it won't make you fat but cut it out. When you are on a low-carbohydrate diet, you should be eating as much as you want. If you cut out most carbohydrates, you should not crave bread. Why do you still have it around? If you have not already done so, read the sourced book. You may have knocked yourself out of ketosis, but hard to say. You may want to restrict carbs further for a couple of days.

a piece of bread wont do much, but ill tell u a scary fact. many ppl fail dieting not because they really cant control themselves. they get fat again or even fatter because when a person is on a diet, the body will know that the body has been taking much less food, so it tries to restore fat in ur body. so when a person starts a diet his body will be very conservative, so if u suddenly eat same amount of food as b4 u willl eventually gain more fat. so once u start a diet u should keep it that wy for at least few months when ur body is used to it.

It is possible, though probably hard. There are many websites out there that have all this information you are looking for. One I use is called "the daily plate" It has nutrition information, recipies, and you can keep track of what you eat with it and how much excersize you do. And it is free.

Starch is another form of sugar called a polysacchride that means "many sugars" These are large sugar molecules joined together to form glucose (sugar) . So it just has less sugar in the bread mixture when mixed . Sometimes they replace the alot of the starch and sugar with vegetables.
