My weight didn't change on Lexapro, or any anti depressants I have taken for that matter. Your doctor is correct, these medications effect everyone differently, until you try them you don't know.
I have listed the side effects that have been reported with Lexapro below, if you want to read more, you can go to drugs.com which I have a link to below.
Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect while taking Lexapro such as:
very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out;
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, feeling unsteady, loss of coordination; or
headache, trouble concentrating, memory problems, weakness, confusion, hallucinations, fainting, seizure, shallow breathing or breathing that stops.
Less serious Lexapro side effects may include:
sleep problems (insomnia);
mild nausea, gas, heartburn, upset stomach, constipation;
decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm; or
dry mouth, yawning, ringing in your ears.
