Seen in the news a while back that studies have found that vitamin c, does not assist in prevention of colds or even assist in severity of colds. Is this true ?. Also would like to know if any one has some good remedies to assist children during colds. Iv'e heard that echianeacia ( don't know if spelling is right ) helps. Or is the best remedy to just let the body fight the cold , therefore children can build immunity to the cold and flu viruses ?.

Vit C helps the immune system and is an important building block for natural immunity - but it does not PREVENT, by itself, colds or other illnesses. That's true. Vitamin C prevents scurvy, but not colds. Echinaceia is alternative medicine BS until proven otherwise. The best remedy is to eat healthfully and wash your hands often.
