Question: Sometimes I get headaches or even migraines due to hormonal fluctuations or barometric pressure. I'm so sick of taking over the counter pills and I don't really want to take prescription pills either b/c of all the side effects. I would like to find some things that are natural, like foods, exercises etc. that would bring it under control enough that it may go away on it's own, or with help from just one or two ibuprofen (I currently take 3-4 200mg when I get one). I have taken so much otc medicine for headaches/migraines in my life, and a lot of prescription stuff too. I just don't want to do that to my body any more. I have already and will continue to report spammers. Advertise for your crappy website somewhere else this is not the place for it. And your advice is terrible. For any other people hoping to get some natural suggestions for managing their headaches I would caution you that "Butalbital is a physically and psychologically addictive barbiturate." geez mate, i'm sorry you're in so much pain .... I get nasty nasty cracking headaches and migraines if i eat high sugar fruits such as oranges, bananas, apples, mangoes .... try switching to low sugar fruits such as watermelon, strawberries or pears for 5 days and see if that makes a difference. It could very well be food allergies or intolerances ...... or chemical sensitivities which can greatly affect your health and vitality .......what you ingest and absorb through your skin and breath can have a vast impact on the way you think, the way you feel and your overall health and vitality ....... seriously, you can live a pain free drug free life if only you know precisely what chemicals and foods are upsetting your system .... it could be something as simple as lactose intolerance or an intolerance to processed sugar or wheat ...... disorders from which people suffer due to intolerances to food or chemicals in their diets can cover almost the whole spectrum of physical and mental illnesses ..... an extraordinary concept but mind blowingly true....... do yourself a favor and go and get allergy tested if you can't pinpoint the cause. in the meantime, try to eat as much whole fresh foods that you prepare yourself that includes a wide range of leafy and green vegies, some low sugar fresh fruits like watermelon, pears and strawberries, some lean meats and fishes, brown rice, organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds and lots of fresh filtered water .......... feed your body from natures table and wean yourself off any highly processed, highly refined sugary and packagedsludge that has little to no nutritional value anyway. Other causes for headaches could be calcium deficiency firstly. Do you also suffer with insomnia, achy bones, irritability and moodiness, digestive issues such as bloating and constipation?? If so these are all symptoms of calcium deficiency ....... if you don't like drinking milk try drinking some organic rice milk fortified with calcium or eat more leafy and green vegies (rich in calcium) and eat more low sugar fresh fruit (also rich in calcium)........... try eating a carrott...... they are rich in calcium and a natural way to bust a headache...... good for helping with elimination too. Foods rich in magnesium will also help to alleviate headaches and migraines, nervous tension, stress, muscle twitching, constipation and help to lower high blood pressure .......... leafy and green vegies again..... also wholegrain breads and cereals like rice and fresh fish like tuna, sardines and salmon are rich in magnesium. Iron deficieny can also cause nasty nasty wicked slapping headaches .......... other symptoms of iron deficiency anemia are paleness of skin, dizzy spells, excessive feelings of being cold, fatigue and exhaustion ....... eat more brown rice, leafy and green vegies, lentils, oatmeal, lean red meats, organic peanuts if this is the case. Failing all that eat some of the white meat of the chicken ...... rich in vitamin B3 .......vitamin B3 has been shown to alleviate headaches and migraines ...... don't supplement with any of the B complex of vitamins individually though ........ if you choose to take a supplement, rather take them as a whole complex as they work best as a group... ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B!2 and folic acid choline,inositol, biotin, PABA etc............ they'll help you to better deal with the everyday dose of stress we are all exposed to at some level. Things that will rob you of your precious supplies of B vitamins are stress, antidepressants, antibiotics, laxatives and diuretics, otc cold and flu meds and painkillers, alcohol, eating too much tinned food or protein, eating too much frozen fruits and vegies and processed sugar, sodas, pop and soft drinks ..... caffeinated drinks such as coffee and tea will also rob you of your B vitamins. Have you been drinking enough water?? You could just be dehydrated........ If not, drink up luv... your body needs at least 2 - 3 litres of water daily......... and ditch the sodas and pop if you drink any cos they'll dehydrate you terribly and wash out your B complex of vitamins ........ as will caffeine and alcohol. Hi Josie, My grandmother used to get horrible headaches. So bad, in fact, that she would just hold her head, rock in her chair and cry. I don't know where she came up with this idea but, my whole family, including myself, do what she used to do when we get a headache. She took a long men's tube sock and tied it very tightly around her head with the knot in the back at the base of her neck. It only takes about 10 minutes or so for the headache to go away. That's the only way I know besides taking lots of pills. JOSA

Drink water! Dehydration is the cause of many headaches, including migraines. No soda and sports drinks do not count, as they dehydrate you further. Also try something called "mygra stic". They sellbthem in natural food stores, and it is a little tube with a rollerball you roll across your forehead when you have a headache. I'm not sure what's in it, but it is homeopathic and it works like a charm.

Hello Heidi… It’s good to hear that you are concentrate on home remedies for constipation. Natural or home remedies give long lasting results without any side effects. Supplements or pills give short time relief but they may lead to other health complications. Most of the people are constipated due to lack of fiber and water intake. You need to add fiber foods like apple, pine apple, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, flax seeds, prunes, papaya, whole grains, soy beans, leafy vegetables and fruits to your diet. Omega3 fatty acids which are available in fish, nuts and seeds also help for constipation. Drink daily 8 – 10 glasses of water and daily workouts help to avoid constipation. Avoid fast and processed foods. Gluten diet also caused to constipation which is found in wheat, barley and rye.
