Question: I absolutely loath my body. Im 20 pounds over my ideal weight which is 130 pounds. I'd like to get there. How can i do that? And how long should i expect it to take?

First of all, how is your sleep pattern? If you're feeling tired in the mornings, you probably need to get a couple more hours sleep. Sleep lets your body take a break from functioning everything you do in a day. It actually helps you lose weight! You burn up calories. As for food- You should be taking in around 1200-1300 calories if you want to lose weight as quick as possible, whilst remaining healthy. Try and cut out crisps, chocolate and other fatty foods. Eat lots of fruit and veg, little and often. Have something in the morning, something for brunch, something at lunch (try to eat a small lunch) and a fair amount at tea. You will also need plenty of protein and carbohydrates. Oily fish, chicken and pasta are good as meals. Caffeine is not great for your body. It's quite hard to digest, and makes it harder to sleep. So it's best to drink as little coffee as you can! Are you considering laxatives/ diet pills at all? Laxatives and diet pills are a bit 'iffy'. If you really want to use them, I would highly recommend consulting a doctor or GP. They can help, but sometimes can be very dangerous! I know someone who was taken in hospital for trying laxatives when she didn't need them. Also, you need to be careful because they damage your digestive system. A lot of people get the runs whilst taking laxatives. An hour of exercise every day is recommended for the average adult. If you want to lose weight, try doing 20 minutes of aerobic exercise (like bike riding, jogging, aerobics etc). It has to be something that keeps you slightly out of breath for the full 20 minutes. If you do it every day, it increases your stamina and fitness. You could also try doing an hour of sport a day. Tennis, football, or even something on the Nintendo Wii! This burns a lot of calories. Drink lots of water! Make sure you drink plenty of water, because it contains zero calories, and helps to cleanse your body. Did you know that 70% of the time, when you think you're hungry, you're actually thirsty! So take a bottle of water or two into work with you. Also, a multi vitamin tablet a day means that you won't have to take in as many calories, but you'll still get the main nutrients you need. If you stick to a good regime, you'll lose weight quickly, and safely! Losing weight is different for different people. I lost 3lbs a week doing this. It was pretty tough, I mean I had to wake myself up early to go for a 20 minute run, resist the temptation to eat and drink water instead, and train myself to go to sleep early. But it really payed off! Whilst losing weight can make you feel and look great, losing too much too quickly can be harmful to your body. Try not to lose more than 5-6lbs a week. Your body could go into starvation mode, or you could be left with 'bat wings' because your skin hasn't had the time to relax into your slimmer figure. Many things can go wrong if you lose weight too quickly. Another thing you could try to do is to go on a water diet. I tried it, but I only lasted 2 days! My mother's personal trainer swears by this diet. Its a protein-green veggie diet. Eat 4 meals a day with one portion of some sort of protein (breast of chicken, boiled or lightly fried egg, a cup of almonds, etc) and all the green vegetables you want. Salad dressings are allowed (your body needs some fats in a diet) and drink LOTS of water. Avoid wheat or dairy. Bread is full of sugars and other ingredients that arent that healthy. Exercise for 45 mins - 1 hour every day. If you stick to this diet and workout plan, you will guarantee lose at least 2 pounds a week. My mom has tried this diet. She looks amazing! Some weeks she will lose 3 to 4 pounds. This year so far she has lost 27% body fat. Once you are satisfied with your weight, gradually add carbs back in to your diet. Good luck!

there's no perfect plan - the best strategy is to eat healthfully and exercise. 14 pounds is too much - aim for 2lbs per week - research has shown it is safe and it leads to permanent loss. Many diets have you losing too quickly, which often causes people to yo-yo their weight. Ideally you should change your diet gradually by substituting unhealthy choices for healthier options. Before you know it you will be eating sensibly and you won't even miss the foods you craved.
