In order to lose the extra weight, do any type of cardio and you can do everyday for 20-25 minutes. An easy cardio is to just run and set your timer to 10 minutes and then once it rings, start coming back home. Do this everyday.
Then for toning, you should do some light weight training with 3 sets and 15 repetitions of each exercise. Buy a set of 5 lbs dumbbells and a set of 10 lbs dumbbells. You can use YouTube videos that will show what exercises to do. Also, do crunches and situps for the abs everyday and pushups somewhere in your week.
Try to plan a circuit so that you don't work out with sore muscles from one day to another. For example, if you work out legs today, work out arms tomorrow, then legs the day after, and so on. But abs - do them everyday... Rain or shine :)
In order to help you eat healthier, avoid eating highly processed foods and try to prepare food at home. Don't eat junk foods and drink lots of water. If you are craving something sweet to drink, make it yourself. Do not drink juices and soda that you buy at the store. For example, you can just grab one orange, squeeze it, add water, agave nectar, and ice, and there you go.
Anyway, I am also petite and my height is 5'2'' so I totally know what you mean. My ideal weight is at 105 lbs because I get pretty pudgy anything above that because of my small frame. I work out Monday through Saturday for one hour - 30 minutes cardio and 30 minutes weight training incl. crunches/situps and pushups. And I've been doing this consistently for 3 months and I'm still not completely toned so don't give up quickly. It takes time, consistency, and dedication, just like anything else in life.
I would highly recommend getting Strength Training For Women: Tone Up, Burn Calories, Stay Strong and Weight Training For Dummies. It's a great resource to get an intro to weight training if you've never done it before.
Also, for a great recipe book for easy and fast healthy meals, I highly recommend So Easy: Luscious, Healthy Recipes for Every Meal of the Week. It's definitely a life saver:
Hope it helps! :)
