Question: i got flu like symptoms on a thursday the usual stuffy nose, chills, etc... but never got a fever just got cold sweat and chills. by saturday i noticed i wasnt taking a # 2 in the bathroom like i normally do i usually go about 3 times a day and never had any problems. so saturday i noticed i was constipated as i tryed going and nuttin came out. ive never been constipated so its pretty weird for me i went to the hospital this monday night doc gave me miralax but mind u doc never checked my stumick just figured i was just constipated i guess sense i had no fever and wasnt throwing up but i did feel like throwing up but just didnt let myself do it .i took the miralax i guess it did soften me up but not alot came out. my stumick still feels blouded i feel like i need to drop a load off but cant and either nuttin comes out or a very small amount. i took the miralax once a day tuesday and wednesday. i went to my regular doctor today witch is thursday he took some blood work to check for some crap he mentioned lol and told me to get konsyl a fiber suppliment and drink it twice a day witch i took today but i dont feel any better i havent been able to go today very little came out today.i had more come out in the two days i took the miralax so im going back to miralax 2morrow. now i dont know how long is ok to go through this constipation? today makes it 5 days of not going as normal at all and im worried that maybe its not just constipation that i have sense i have never had this only got it when i got sick recently. now i dont have a flu anymore but stuck with this constipation so im confused? at 1 point my poop smelled like when my son was growing teeth and he had very bad runs but his poop smelled weird & thats pretty much how mine smelled two days ago. today it smelled normal but again just a little bit came out. what should i do?? i feel blouded sum pressure all around the belly and bottom is this normal?? also how long should i wait if i still feel same symptoms remember its been 5 days that ive had this problem and counting. also i feel like i have to go and when i sit down i gas and takes away from the feeling of pooping and i end up not pooping. i hate this feeling so bad ive never had this. im 26 by the way lol sorry for the typo lol

have a bowlfull of brown rice and some green vegies like broccolli, kale, chard, celery, buk choy ........ all rich in magnesium which is essential for healthy nerve and muscle functioning.... magnesium rich foods will also increase the production of hydrochloric acid in your tummy thus aiding in constipation ..... eat carrotts, drink more water and believe me mate, that will move you....... the more wholegrain breads and cereals, fresh fruit and vegies in your diet, the larger and easier your motions will be to pass. when you get sick it's a natural tendancy to hardly eat and it's also easy to slip into not drinking enough fluids ..... and the otc meds you took prolly bound you as well. feel better. peace baby ♥

For constipation olive oil often helps. If a table spoon of olive oil doesn't help perhaps you could keep increasing the amount. For constipation, medication is only a very temporary solution if it works. Often you get side effects. Wheat germ and wheat bran are very high fiber foods that often help for constipation. Constipation can cause anal fissures, hemorrhoids and also some far more serious problems as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22r... . You probably need to improve your diet as you seem to have a constipation problem. For constipation, castor oil is very good for a one-off remedy as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22c... but it is unsuitable for regular use. For constipation, suppositories, laxatives, fiber supplements and enemas are all totally unnecessary if you eat the right foods and avoid the wrong foods. All fruit and vegetables in very large amounts are laxative. You need to permanently change your diet or you are likely to get colon cancer. Constipation can make you extremely unwell and can lead to colon cancer as it causes a build up of carcinogenic toxins in the system. The intake of foods such as milk, cheese, white rice, white flour and red meat should be restricted, because they tend to contribute to constipation. Any food that has had the fiber stripped out, the nutrients processed out or slows down the digestion is a constipation culprit. Here's a list of foods shown to cause constipation problems: •Meats, especially fatty meats, red meat and processed meats, •Dairy Products, such as cheese, ice cream and whole milk, •Fast Foods – burgers, French fries and other fried foods, pizza, etc., •Refined grains, like white rice or any refined white flour products, •Highly starchy foods – white potatoes, corn and all refined grains, •Pastries and other high sugar products, such as cakes, cookies and pies, •Deep-fried foods, chips and other foods that are high in bad fats. You can see lots more in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22n... which tells you "Natural Ways to Relieve Constipation" and the right foods to eat.

If you want something that will work, and work FAST (as in, only take it when you're going to be at home for the next several hours), there's a liquid called magnesium citrate that can be bought at drug stores like Walgreens. However, if gentler laxatives give you cramps, then I've got no reason to think that this wouldn't do the same. Also, it's pretty harsh on your body; that's why it's so strong and works so well. It's definitely NOT something you should take on a regular basis. I can certainly vouch for its effectiveness when all others have failed - at least in my experience. What I really think is that you should ask your doctor what he recommends.

Did you take medication for the flu that contains Codiene or any other opiate, constipation is a side effect of Codiene, I got caught the same way after taking flu medicines, try to eat healthy and get away from the medicines hope that you will be better soon.

CUT BACK on the milk, it can cause you to be consitapated. It happens to my daughter all the time. Start drinking some juice. White grape juice, prune juice, apple juice are all good for helping loosing someone up. I would speak to a Dr. because they can give you a special type of liquid to drink to help your system clean itself out and keep you regular. If that doesnt work then they may need to take a different step. Normally they do not want you to stay that backed up for over a month, as it can cause you medical problems. If it is causing you to have pains down your legs then somewhere your bowels are already pushing against nerves..
