OK Californians, don't get angry, lol, but why are Californians so "unique" (strange) compared to other states?

Question: First of all, let me say it doesn't bother me at all. I think it is interesting. But the californians I have met are really odd. they always talk about organic food, appointment apparati (like blackberries, iphones, etc) and call you names like "babe" or "baby" or "guy". Strange indeed. Explain this phenomenon to me. I can compare it to other states like Texas, and Minnesota, Louisiana and Virginia. People in each of these states really stand out in terms of a real state personality. Why?

hmm, interesting question. I'm not totally sure and I've lived here my whole life! My best guess would be that california is generally more progressive than other states... trends like eating organic food tend to start here because of hollywood and l.a. and that whole scene. Plus since it's so sunny people tend to be pretty laid-back and casual. As for the technology, well all the major tech companies are located in the Bay Area so we are more aware of new gadgets. not sure about the names you mentioned, i don't really notice people saying them... but i would guess that they originated with the surfer community (laid-back to the utmost!) Hope this helps! I think it would be interesting to do some kind of professional study on this and see what other people think.

For my daughter’s 13th birthday party we did a mall scavenger hunt and the girls had a blast. My daughter created a list of about 15 items including things such as black lipstick, guy’s boxers, pink hair dye, a blue gumball and a penny from her birth year. When the girls arrived they picked a number, which separated them into 3 groups of 4. I had a parent follow each group as they scurried through the mall looking for their items. Each girl was given $5.00 and the following rules: Stay with your group AT ALL TIMES; use only the $5.00 provided by host; save all receipts, and return at specified time. The winning group was the one that found the most items from the list for the least amount of money and in the least amount of time. When we went back to the house they used all the items and I got some great pictures. Your cousin could be the official photographer & when the game is all done, she could download all the pics and make a really neat collage of all the fun.

California is a huge state and it's the most populated state in the nation with over 30 million people and many major cities, so California could easily be another country. As for organic food ... there's a lot of liberal people in California, so people generally care more about the environment than people in other parts of the country do. Most people in California recycle, and there’s a lot of vegetarians there (obviously not all, not even the majority, but a lot). I honestly don’t think it’s the same as the situation with Texas. There’s a lot of people in Texas who truly do think that they’re better than everyone else because they’re from Texas. I’ve never encountered a “we’re the best state” attitude from Californians, but most Californians are smart enough to realize that California is a significant state.

I consider the polls. The most effective trouble is whilst the few do not just like the electorate selections they discover a remarkable liberal pass judgement on and dossier a go well with in hopes of having the electorate overturned. The intent this does not paintings on a country wide foundation is the one approach for difference at that degree is a Constitutional Amendment. Control of the money approach tons of vigor in Congress. Only a couple of could vote to restrict their vigor. Also, the character States are used to getting giant sums of cash from the Feds and might opt for not to go a Constitutional Amendment if you want to imply the money will not come from the Feds. Getting 38 States to approve the Amendment shall be very tricky. The above causes doesn't suggest we the persons will have to no longer do the whole thing we will be able to to drive Congress to try this.

Californians are crowded, they have too many earthquakes, they have too many major fires, everything costs too much in California, and they are a quick paced melting pot of people from everywhere. And the worst thing about them is, "Their Governor should not have given up his day job."
