Question: Hi, this is the first time I have wrote one of these, so pardon if I mess up, ha ha. So I am 15 years old, almost 16, and I weigh about 202 pounds. For my age it is really unhealthy. I am about 5' 9" so I kind of get proportioned, but not by much. Most of my fat is in my stomach area, but mostly my thighs. I have been both bulimic and annorexic in the past, but it didn't help much. I don't wish to lead a life like that. I am also a dancer so I dance at a minimum of 7 hours a week. I was just wondering does anyone have some tips for me? I am just struggling with my weight and need some advice, any works... But if you are just going to tell me I am obese, then please refrain from posting anything! Thank You!

Being an athlete..as a dancer you are an athlete...you can expect to weigh more, so don't let that discourage you. Go by your doc's advice, your abilities, how you look, feel, and how your clothes fit. Slim fast has a very good support system whether or not you use their products. Go to their free website. www.slimfast.com Lots of nutrition and menu planning info and a progress tracker, and a message board and buddy system. But really at your age, you are not done growing or developing and this is a calorie intensive process for the body. DONT skip on food or diet too much. Not that you can't be health conscious...of course you can. Best advice I can give you is to skip the junk food, snack healthy, eat three small meals and three larger snacks per day. Choose healthy foods and healthy cooking methods and monitor portion sizes. Treat yourself every now and then to something wholesome but decadent (such as ice cream) And exercise. One hour a week of each: stength training (weights, bands, ball), cardio (walking, swimming), and stretching (yoga, pilates) on top of your dance each day will make you strong, lean, and a fat burning goddess!

really healthy because your getting the right amount of exercise and all the nutrients your body needs exercise- you should exercise 4-6 days a week. To burn fat, jog or run for 20-40 minutes every other day or out of the 4-6 days. To work on toning your stomach and to help eliminate stomach fat, do 10-15 minutes of ab workouts (sit ups, leg lifts, etc). to help tone your legs and abs, do lunges, and to help tone your arms, lift 5-8 pound weights, do push ups. Be sure that during your workout; drink plenty of water before, during, and after. Also its said that its good to eat 30 minutes prior to work out to keep your muscles from breaking down (what’s good to eat is if in between meals, a piece of fruit, or before lunch, peanut butter and jelly sandwich is really good) when you want to loose weight, eating is most important because if you don’t, your metabolism slows down and your body gets worse. Skipping meals is also bad, including breakfast (breakfast speeds your metabolism and helps you loose weight, true!) its also good to snack every 2-3 hours to keep up your metabolism eating- to eliminate body fat, you need to eliminate your fats and sweets. If you do love chocolate, try eating 2 chocolate covered strawberrys (dark chocolate is better than milk!) or 2 dark chocolate Hershey kisses (according to seventeen mag, you can eat those everyday without hurting your body:) breakfast- go for honey nut cheerios or any low sugar cereal with a piece of fruit, egg whites with cheese and whole wheat toast, whole grain waffles with yogurt and fruit, eggs on an English muffin. Lunch- low fat/sodium turkey sandwich (whole wheat bread). Peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Tuna sandwich (light on the mayo, though mayo is good) with a cup of fruit or a piece of fruit or some pretzels or graham crackers. Dinner- fast food? Go for subway or soup. Skip the burgers and fries. Going out to eat? That’s ok in moderation, just don’t go out every day. Have one serving of whatever your mom/dad makes you. Snacks- go for fruit, graham crackers, yogurt, pretzels, veggies (skip ranch, go for peanut butter) or a handful of nuts. Drink- try and skip the soft drinks. Waters best. So, here is the deal. You sound pretty active! Are you wanting to lose weight because of your appearance? How you feel? Is there pressure to be a certain size? I hate diets - and I don't think they are safe. Changing some bad habits will help you feel better though - both mentally and physically. You sound like you are getting enough exercise in so try eating mostly whole foods - vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains and keep a positive mind! I suggest working on some self confidence exercises and really focusing on getting both a healthy body and mind! You can be healthy at many different sizes - diets aren't the only answers! Good luck with everything.

I would recommend you take a look at what Beachbody has to offer. It sounds as you need some assistance with understanding what to eat and when. Eating the right foods at the right time of the day are important. Your dancing is great for you, but, your body may be very used to the dance and your body is not reacting. Beachbody has an on-line meal plan which will tell you what to eat each day and how much. For the exercise, they have great DVD's which you can use in your own room. you can see some of the at www.teambeachbody.com/coachmax. Get the "Sugar Buster" book or audio from your local library and follow it. Along with excercise, long walks (gradually work up from 1 then 1.5, 2 , 2.5 till you reach 3 miles) tneh work up to a jog. Jog/Sprint/walk. You should be fit enought to get interested in sports.

Take a look at what you are eating. You need greeny and colorful foods , and I don't mean colorful as in artaficially colored M and M's ha ha

Increase your daily intake of veggies and fruits - try to eat fruit for snacks instead of chips or cookies. Drink water instead of soda. Start every dinner off with salad or a vegetable. Eat 5 mini meals a day, eating almost every 3 hours. Try to do at least 30 mins of cardio a day even if it is just walking your dog. You are right; it is bad to lose weight quickly because you usually gain back the weight or cause serious health problems. Aim to lose 1-3lbs a week at first.
