Why can't you take laxatives? There are many mild laxatives that should not bother anyone when taken.. You could use a stool softener like Colace which could help you. People with constipation problems can take it on a regular schedule just so they won't get constipated. You could also do a fleets enema and see what happens. Make sure to drink lots of water.

Constipation is often due to an unhealthy diet with insufficient fiber.
Most people don't eat enough fiber.
Wheat germ, wheat bran, Chia seeds and Psyllium husks are very high fiber foods and there is also a lot of fiber in fruit and vegetables.
Both constipation and IBS as well as diarrhea can be cured with liquid chlorophyll as in a web search for "liquid chlorophyll" + constipation + ibs.
Other natural ways to relieve constipation are covered in a web search for "natural ways to relieve constipation".
Eating a healthy diet with lots of fiber etc. IS important. I encourage you to make this a regular (no pun intended) part of your diet. I would caution you however (if this constipation thing is a regular problem for you) NOT to depend on and use laxatives long term to assure a bowel movement. It will work for awhile, but eventually will not. Additionally too, while using "laxatives" long term as a substitute for healthy eating, your large intestines will no longer function properly and other surgical accomodations may be necessary. It happened to my Dad., don't let it happen to you.
If your present situation is just an isolated delay, it is probably no big deal . If it becomes chronic, see a Doctor. Good luck.

A deficiency in vitamin B1 and especially in magnesium causes constipation!! Take a vitamin B-complex supplement (has all the B-vitamins in it) and a magnesium supplement. Also, drink alot water, exercise, take a hot bath, take a probiotic supplement, drink prune juice, add psyllium husk seeds (sold at health food stores) to your low fat plain yogurt, eat raw fermented sauerkraut, and next time you eat, eat a salad with mixed greens (kale, baby spinach, chard, etc..) with apple cider vinegar and fish oil as the dressing - make sure you do all of these steps and I'm really sure you'll be able to go to the bathroom!
Other things that just sooth the digestive tract (might not necessarily help you have a bowel movement like the other methods I just listed before, but is still great for the digestive system):
evening primrose oil (google for more info, because I haven't tried this myself)
slippery elm (google for more info, because I haven't tried this myself)
100% aloe vera juice
lemons, garlic, and other alkalizing foods
If you can't find certain foods or products in your normal grocery store, then health foods (like Whole Foods) sell them!

I would suggest a 1 to 2 quart warm water enema. If you decide to try the milk and molasses enema be forewarned that the mixture has nothing to do with natural lubricants or milk being highly mild on the intestines. You need to mix them in a saucepan on the stove; so that the two mix thoroughly. Then you let it cool to 105F and put in the bag. Once you take it you need to be next to the toilet (or in the tub) because it is going to hit fast and abruptly. Mix molasses with milk insert in the rectum and the gas builds with the peristaltic contractions become extremely strong and BOOM you have emptied your colon.
Even with this you are going to need several 1 to 2 quart warm water enemas to clean out the residue or you will experience on-going gas.

If you need immediate relief, give yourself an enema. Mix 1/2 cup dark molasses with a quart of room temperature milk. Administer that mixture via enema and be VERY near the toilet when you do because it works FAST. The molasses is a natural lubricant and the milk is very mild on your bowels. Got this tip from an old and highly experienced RN.

Drink hot water in the early morning.
a person shall drink 1 liter of water per 20 kg body weight (not less than 3 litres of water).
You can use Enema Can once in 15 days to avoid constipation.

My son was very constipated when he was little also. The doctor suggested a teaspoon of karo syrup in each bottle and it def. helped the little man out. I also would not want constantly give my kid a laxative. It's not a good thing to start. Best of luck!
