the Atkins diet is garbage...it counsels one to eat a lot of proteins and fats and to minimize carbs. proteins, fats, and carbs are not created equal. if you're eliminating carbs such as white sugar or white flour then good for you...but any diet that thinks fresh fruits and vegetables are bad for you too...can't be good. if you sat and ate all the fresh fruits and vegetables you wanted to...you'd get full long before you'd get fat. and a high protein diet from chicken and beef and pork contains huge amounts of saturated fats which is a main cause of heart disease. also...your body can only digest 12 grams of protein at one time...so if you're eating huge amounts of protein like you would on the atkins diet...you'll have large amounts of undigested proteins in your blood, whick leads to uric acid crystals which collect in your joints and cause the sharp pains that people with arthritis and gout suffer from. also cooked meats are a major cause of leukocytosis (research that one yourself on the internet...it's too long to explain). so eat lots of raw nuts and fresh fruits and vegetables and you'll lose weight the healthy way.

Carbs are energy for life. The Atkins diet is a fad that will fade away and return in a few years, as so many others have done. Your best bet is to eat balanced meals. Eat only the caloric intake that you burn in a day. If you want to eat more, you will have to burn more. There are many easy ways to enhance your metabolism to burn more calories without special effort. Avoid soda pop and any caloric drink (your body stores liquid calories quickly). Don't stuff yourself. Eat smaller portions more often. Get your exercise in the mornings. Don't eat after 7:00 pm.
I looked at the atkins diet and didn't really like becaue i'm really not a meat eater like that. However, I did and am still on the South Beach Diet. This is a good diet everyone at my job did it and we all lost weight, It basically just teaches you how to eat.

I agree that the calories from the fat allowed on Atkins doesn't help weight loss.
This is why we support the Kimkins Diet. If you check out their front page (member comments at the bottom), you'll see some people are losing 1 pound a day! That's incredible!
Carbs are sugar and if you're overweight nobody "needs" carbs. That's a lie.
You should check out low carb diets for yourself and decide. We like Kimkins because it's low fat low carb and you lose weight really, really fast!
The lady that started it lost 198 lb in just 1 year!

It is a load of garbage, and well past its sell-by date. Stuffing fat into your body does not help you lose weight.
Science has proven without doubt that ALL the 'successful' dieters using his script in fact adjusted their own eating habits toward a low-carbohydrate diet. Simple as that. It does not work because it does not keep weight off.
Most diets these days rely on losing body fluid and muscle mass to lose weight quickly, hence kidding people that they are 'good' diets.
The only proper scientifically validated diet involves metabolic profiling (free) and personalised glycaemic indexing to suit individual metabolism. PRO-biotics should be included only when necessary.

to be very blunt. that diet is a load of s***! my parents did it and if you think about it you can only have 20 carbs a day. THATS STARVATION so if you concidering going on it you should look into the south beach diet or the idiot proof diet because there healthy and u loose weight faster

You need to read the book, he tells you how to modify it to suit your needs.
BTW, if you are not eating ANY carbs you are NOT doing Atkins. You should be eating your veggies right from the start. This is why you need to read the book, so that you actually know what Atkins is and how it is done.
