Question: I'm thinking about doing the low carb diet, but I was wondering if anybody that has experimented with this diet could tell me how much weight they lost in what period. What foods did you eat. And how did you feel during this particular diet. I talked to a lady who said she lost a lot of weight off of the diet but I never got to finish speaking with her. So if some of you wouldn't mind sharing I'd appreciate it. Thanks

The most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggest that about half of your daily calories come from carbohydrates. A person who eats approximately 2,000 calories per day should take in about about 250 grams of carbohydrates. While keeping track of the amount of carbohydrates you need every day is important, choosing the right carbohydrate-rich foods is equally important. Your carbohydrates should come from whole grain bread, cereals and pastas, nuts, seeds, legumes, fruits and vegetables. Avoid unhealthy carbohydrate-rich foods, such as sugary snacks, pastries, sugar-sweetened soft drinks, candy, cookies, greasy chips and most processed, packaged snack foods. These foods contain too many calories while offering little or no nutritional value. Some of these foods also contain saturated and trans-fats that are bad for your heart.

get off the low carb diet. it is not healthy for you. Atkins is a fraud. Especially if you crave chocolate. You will eventually go off this diet. Diets don't work because people look at them as short term and say "i'm going on this till I lose 10, 20, 30lbs, etc." When they go off, they eat like crap and put the weight back on, and usually put on MORE weight because they used a nutritionally and physically unhealthy diet, like atkins or low-carb. which plays havoc with your body as it does not preserve muscle and encourages you to take in large amounts of fat- sugar is only one part of it. The reason you will gain back MORE weight when you go off it- (and eventually you will, your body craves sugar in fruits because it needs it and those things are healthy for you- while chocolate is not) because you will have lost muscle as your body will have not been getting what it needs to help preserve it and support muscle maintenance and growth. Muscle increases your metabolism. less muscle = more fat (loosely). I suggest instead to you to read some nutrition books and understand the effect of what you eat on you from a scientific standpoint, not a standpoint of someone giving you false diet information in order to sell thier diet plan. Develop your own eating plan (I say eating plan because it needs to be a LIFELONG CHANGE, but you develop one you can live with) based on healthy choices, you can even work in a "cheat" day where you can eat your chocolate. Something your current "diet" doesn't have. A healthier version of chocolate (although it still has high calories and high sugar) than regular chocolate is dark chocolate. Not just "hershey's" crap you see in the commercial- which is actually only 45% or so pure, try lindts 85% pure dark chocolate- it is more bitter than you are used to, but for a better choice than milk chocolate it is not a bad treat so long as you limit yourself.

Flourless cake: Easy Flourless Chocolate Cake Serves 8 Ingredients: 10 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar (substitute spenda) 2 teaspoons instant espresso powder 3/4 cup boiling water 3 sticks unsalted butter, softened 6 large eggs, at room temperature 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract Method: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter the bottom and sides of a nine-inch springform pan. Line the bottom of the pan with a round of parchment paper and butter the paper. Place both chocolates and the sugar (splenda) in a food processor and process until finely ground. Pour the boiling water through the feed tube and process for 10-15 seconds until the chocolate is completely melted. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the work bowl. Add the butter and process until incorporated. Add the eggs and vanilla and process until the mixture is smooth creamy, about eight seconds. Scrape the chocolate batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a rubber spatula. Place the pan on a baking sheet and bake for 55-60 minutes, until the edges of the cake are puffy and the center is just set. Cool the cake in the pan set on a wire rack for 30 minutes. Cover and refrigerate for at least three hours or until ready to serve. Garnish with raspberry Sauce, sweetened whipped cream, cocoa powder, and fresh raspberries.

That's mostly what I've done to lose weight. It wasn't a "no-carb" diet though. First, don't exclude fruits and veggies. One mistake a lot of people make when going "low-carb" is cutting out produce. You NEED those, and lots of them. Breads, pastas, rice, potatoes and beans should be eaten in moderation. Always make sure that they're whole grains when you do indulge in them. I can't say I never eat carbs. I allow myself a treat a couple times a week at most. It's just not a staple of my diet. The majority of my calories come from fruits, veggies, lean protein, nuts and low-fat dairy. When losing weight it's about volume. You want to be able to get the most food for the least calories.

Low carb diets are hard because once you get used to the diet you can loose weight but you have to stay on it or it will come back. I have found South Beach is a better low carb diet than eliminating carbs all together. You cut out all the white sugar, but re-introduce good carbs back into your diet. But if you follow a ow carb diet, please know that the first two weeks are hard because you will experience moodiness and tiredness and feel pretty groggy. But if you can make it through that and stick to the diet AND an exercise routine, you can see success. Be realistic and dont set unobtainable goals and you will do great.

You were doing good til you got to the damn rum. Yes that's low carb, but it could be perfected a bit: - Ease off a bit more on the veggies. For dinner, maybe choose asparagus OR green beans but not both. At lunch, if you have salad then go easy on the burger fixins, or vice versa. You're really having TWO salads there. Things like onions, peppers, tomatoes DO have carbs. Not a lot, but your objective is to minimize carbs. - Don't drink alcohol. Alcohol is a carb. It behaves much like sugar.You should no more drink alcohol than eat a candy bar. It looks pretty good. Good for a start. One you get used to it, I'd try cutting back on the food quantity. You SHOULD find you're in much more control of hunger, and for example may find you only need the bacon OR the sausage for bkfast, not both. And maybe only on egg. The point is, those things aren't bad, but once you've moderated your hunger and found how protein and fat provide satiety, you may realize you can cut down on quantity and calories for added effect, and not be hungry. And don't be shy about added fat. E.g, scramble the eggs in plenty of butter or coconut oil. Put cheese or butter on anything. Add in an avocado and olives.
